I know a lot of people that have had the surgery including my husband. He loved it and so did everyone else. None of them have had to wear glasses afterwards. But, I will tell you that your eyes will start to get bad again. Just like anyone who ages your eyesight changes all the time. My husband had his done 5 years ago and they are still pretty good. His has changed a little but not enough to need glasses again or anything.

At around the age of 40, reading will become a problem ( eventually for everyone) and you will need reading glasses, there are surgerys (lasik treatment - mono vision, one eye is treated to see far the other for near) that can help with that when the time comes and also now Restore lenses that are implantable that can help. If you are not 40 and over and want to get rid of your glasses than Lasik is a good thing, depending on how bad your eyes are the possibility of needing glasses afterwards depends. Most likely you would not that is something your doctor would be able to explain if it was a probable thing

Theres no absolute answer to this: it's a matter of balancing risks, benefits, and probabilities.

Overall the vast majority of people who have Lasik or related refractive eye surgery are happy to very happy with the result. For a very few unfortunate individuals it's little short of a disaster.
(I've certainly personally tried to help a small number of people who could not get good vision even *with* glasses or contact lenses after having had surgery.)
More common, but far from the majority experience, are those who have a degree of disappointment due to persistent dry eyes, glare or flare in the vision (especially with night driving) and those who find the prescription is not close enough to zero to avoid the use of glasses (at least sometimes).
In the latter case an extra remedial laser treatment can sometimes be offered.
The measure for "needing glasses" after surgery is very dependent on what each individual considers "OK" vision, rather than on a particular line on a test chart.
The more critical the person, the less likely they are to be pleased!
As you get older, (40+) you won't escape the need for reading glasses even if the distance Rx has been reduced to zero.
(there are exceptions to that, but it gets complicated!)

It's the opposite of a big lottery, really.
There the odds are truly awful,
but you're only betting a dollar or a pound.
With laser surgery the odds are very, very, good (especially if you know the surgeon turns away people he considers poor candidates),
but you're betting your eyesight.

If you dont want eye surgery and you are skeptical bout it would you be interested in getting contacts until you can do some extensive research and decide whether or not youd want to do it? I have contacts myself and I am glad I made the switch from glasses to contacts they look and feel much better. Even though I still have my glasses for night driving and night reading I still like my contacts hands down over the glasses anyday

I made this surgery about 2 years ago & its a great thing to open your eye & see the world without wearing lenses or glasses...after this period of time I still have 6/6 vision without the need of glasses , the Dr told me that maybe after years I may need to do it again , its a fact that we are aging and our vision become less thats why you need to do it again after some years, if everything went ok through the surgery you will have 6/6 vision for both eyes ,if not you may have one eye stronger in vision than the other...it differ from one person to another, if it is slightly different in vision between the 2 eyes your not suppose to wear glasses , if not,I think you have to correct this with a glasses but as I said before one may do it again to correct vision ,I used to have troubles with lenses thnax god not anymore ...beside, some ppl have dryness effect right away after the surgery...after these 2 years I started to have dryness effect in my eye but its not from lazek surgery its because I live in hot weather & I dont drink enough water & hate wearing sunglasses .told you everything I know ,If you want my advice go for it & good luck :)

I do not hate him. I kinda like him, despite the fact that I'm a Jr fan. Tony is outspoken and regularly a bit of competitive at the monitor (either one of which make a well motive force, for my part) He was once a bit of crazed and overbearing in his previous years, with a bit of of a mood quandary, however Coach Gibbs and a bit adulthood has gave the impression to mellow him out a bit. I nonetheless like to look a bit of of the "spark" from Tony every so often, like whilst he will get on Goodyear's butt for crappy tires. You can continually assume Tony to name a spade a spade. Being an proprietor may also deliver out extra of the "Diplomat" Tony instead than the "Get out of my face!" Tony. But this a passionate recreation with passionate enthusiasts. They LOVE their drivers and have a tendency to HATE a few others. Just be happy you are no longer a Kyle Busch fan. Geez, regularly you'll be able to simply think the melevolence in opposition to him. Just do not take what different folks believe in my opinion. If you favor Tony, then move with it and who cares what different folks believe. Enjoy his well season (thus far) and desire for the first-class! (Don't inform any individual, however I'm making a bet on Tony at Talledega! Shhhh!)

Not everyones lasik eye surgery goes well..its now about 50/50.
Some come out needing another round or even a third.
It can leave you with very dry eyes, make night blindness or if you have it make it worse. It can leave you with seeing halos around lights.
If you do choose to pursue lasik make sure you go to a reputable doctor and check out his ratio good per bad procedure surgery background.

My wife had laser surgery a few years ago.
Previously she wore "coke bottles" from the age of six.
Now at 65 she wears glasses to read.
Hope this helps your decision.

I know a few people who've had it done and it's turned out great. I'm getting blind as a bat and I'm so tired of doing battle with my contact lenses and walking around the house saying "Where did I leave my glasses!?!". Once I start my new job and get bills paid I'm going to look into having it done.

you have to wear protective goggles for a week after the surgery to protect your eyes from any infection that it can get. the surgery will only take a few minutes. its quite expensive but worth it. philippines has lower rates in eye surgery with a world class service.
