Teachers are there for a "reason." Unless a parent has the specific "basic" skills to incur "early learning," then the children won't have excitement toward the learning patterns. I have actually known some parents who had abilities to "teach" and create interest in the learning material. Thus, the children were prepared BEFORE their exposure to "elementary" skills. I would keep the "teachers" unless a "red flag" goes up which indicates that problems are amiss.
I wish you well.
Thanks for this intelligent question because some parents and/or teachers are not prepared to teach appropriately. Peace, Love and God Bless.

I definitely see your point. But I think the fact that some predators become priests, ministers and rabbis solely because they know that religion is unquestionably the easiest way to gain the trust of parents and the community in general is what really pisses lots of people off about those instances, and adds to their distaste for organized religion.

what about parents who abuse their children? Percentage wise aren't there more family relatives that abuse children than teachers?
That said, you have clearly never tried to teach a child to read. If I had to teach my children by myself without their teachers doing the grunt work, I would probably go nuts. And though I'm not likely to abuse my kids, I can see that the frustration of having to teach your own children could actually lead to more abuse.
EDIT: Ha ha. sorry, I clearly read your question wrong.

Deb-I know you are beloved here, but I'm confused. Can you please clarify?
Did someone say priests, ministers, and rabbis shouldn't be allowed around children and you are being somewhat facetious in response?

No. I believe in the choice. and all parents are not capable of teaching. You still have a choice to do that if you are smart enough.

I think we should just dump all children on a deserted island and film them fending for themselves - well, all children but mine of course.
