I have just had another nerve conduction test on my arms. Yet theyt say it is not carpal tunnel. He suggested that I wear a splint at night. I have been resting my arm/s on pillows whent I sleep which does help a bit with the numbness in fingers. Recently I had tingling prickly itchy skin on the top of the hand. I need to ask something does Carpal tunnel have to occur under the arm or on top of the arm? When I asks the doctor or specialist I don't seem to get any proper answers. I have researched about CTS and tendonitis but still am not happy with the results. Can anyone help? Zoe

Hi Zoe. You may want to research a group of conditions called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS). This is a very common condition and it is the number one differential diagnosis for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. There are no effective 'medical treatments' (no surgery and no drugs), so many, if not most, medical doctors lack knowledge about this very common condition.

TOS is a neurovascular compression syndrome that can be caused by a variety of problems in the neck/shoulder region. It often creates a 'confusing' pattern of symptoms in the arms and hands.

You may want to get a thorough evaluation from your family Chiropractor. Chiropractors can often do wonders for this type of condition.

Best wishes and good luck.

Try some massage if you can stand it. I get arm and hand pain on occasion and a good massage fixes me right up.

Nothing like a good hand massage.
