Have you gone to other categories in Yahoo Answers and found others bashing each other because they do not share the same ideas say on a specific brand of guitars they could buy? Or how a cake is made? Or any other subject? NO!

I stayed out of this category for a long time and then came back just to see some of the answers. If you didn't know any difference, you would think the religious people truly hate the non-religious people and vice-versa. The brutal attacks on each other are really sad to read. It would be nice to be able to read questions without having each other go straight for the juggler vein with their replies. I just hope we can find a way to be "civil" to each other and respect each other. Any suggestions how this can be done?

This is what I'm talking about exactly. You can't ask a simple question and get a simple answer. No, I'm not the new Mommy for R&S but it sometimes sounds like a room full of children fighting.

I stand corrected. From the replies that's been received in a very few minutes, there are only a few that have written pointed answers. For all the others, you're doing a great job of giving your opinion in a respectful manner. Thank YOU!

If someone simply says "I believe" or "I don't believe" there isn't much you can say. What can you say? No you don't or yes you do? That would be illogical and absurd right?

And yet I have seen a couple of people making this completely illogical and absurd argument. Here's one example of someone who has repeatedly argued that a lack of belief doesn't exist and that atheists actually do believe in god.

Not guitars but yes I have seen many bashing each other over the other's choice of computer or operating system.

I have spent my time here answering directly and honestly and yet I am starting to realize that so few people asking questions actually want an answer that I've been pretty much wasting my time.

The reason you find it in this section is because religion is a lot more personal topic than guitar brands, so people are going to be more sensitive about what others say regarding their beliefs. It would be impossible to get everyone to be civil; you would just have to appeal to those who are willing to do so. Maybe you could ask a question about it and, if it got enough stars, it may end up on the "Best of Answers" thing where it will get a lot of attention.

Good point. there is no reason for it.
Im a Christian and even though i don't agree with everyone else's comments or opinions doesnt mean that i have any right to be rude and abusive to them.

Philippians 2:5 says 'your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.'
Jesus didnt go around bashing people because they didn't believe in him, so if you're a Christian try and think about this.

I think everyone - religious or not - should start RESPECTING each other and their beliefs. it's a free country and there is no sense in critisicing each other. there are better things to do.

also, maybe people should try and be a little more civil when they write what they think...

God Bless.

That is kinda of an easy question. It can't be done. Society has taught some people that certain religions are supposed to be the main one and not to respect the others. I have this issue with my ex husband about my religion. I look at it this way if you don't want someones opinion on something don't ask a question, that is the only way it will be resolved.

Mama,
I certainly agree with you on this one. I have spent some time in the Family section and I really find it refreshing at times. There are a number of people on this site that I absolutely love also but they are not on here as often as they used to be. I suggest that we attempt to find something positive to say to at least three people each night and send them a positive note. It makes them feel good and it really helps you to feel good also. I have done this quite a bit and I enjoy the wonderful notes that come back to me. They are a Pick-me-up! Try sending them to people who you are not generally writing to and do not share the same general opinion with. Have a great week!!
Thank YOU,
Eds (A simple Christian)

Everybody wants to think they have the answer. Not only that but that if you don't believe their way (usually atheist /agnostic) you must be a dumb uneducated hillbilly sheep, led around by the nose by some hairsprayed televangilist.
I have the answer, the answer for me. That is the 66 books of the Bible and Jesus whom the Old Testament predicted would come, and the new Testament revealed.

The worst bashers are usually the ones who are least secure in their beliefs, whether they be for or against (insert belief here).
Folks who bash gay marriage and make the claim that it weakens the 'institution' of marriage seem to have forgotten that the only thing that weakens marriage are.... weak married people.

The harder someone tries to demonize anyone with whom he or she doesn't agree, the less solid their position really is.

I do not bash others for their feelings, spirituality, or sexuality. everyone feels the way they do for their own reasons...if you do not agree with someone's views on a particular subject, you are more than inclined to NOT answer, which I believe is what many people on here should learn, instead of being rude.

The subject of religion is very personal, very deep. People have a tendancy to get vehement about things that they care a lot about, religious or not. If you don't care about something, you're not going to have strong views.

I have to agree with you. It's like, who are you trying to impress with your bashing? I stay out of it. To prevent it, I guess the best thing to do is just leave your religion out of anything you say; that way, no one will have anything to say about it.
