I am a natural born US citizen and I have a professor that is a natural born US citizen. In a conversation in class the other day, she said that she had lived in Australia and had become a naturalized citizen. I had previously been told by natural born Aussies that it is really hard to become a citizen over there and you pretty much have to marry into it. So, how does it work? When I retire, I would love to move to Australia permanently.
p.s. I am already married. :-)

You will not have to become a citizen to reside in Australia when you retire. Of course you will have to meet the income requirement to be allowed to reside there. See website below for visa and immigration info.
