I am a Christian and I don't deny it. I don't celebrate Christmas either. (I am not a JW either... just an educated open minded Christian). Most people don't want to give up their traditions because they have many fond memories of Christmas past. If they accept it is just a pagan festival, it will take away a belief that has given them joy. It is difficult for many people to realize they have been raised with a lie.

The Tree decorated by ornaments is said to be based on Paganism. The main complaint is that Christmas has been commercialised and is now about Santa instead of Christ. It might be an idea to find a way to celebrate both at the same time or all three. Another thing for those who claim to be Christian but use God and Christ as cover for Greed perhaps a Church based on this for those who do not truly believe so that they may worshipp what they believe in peace withthe same law which protects all faiths.Same for those who have this as sole unaknowledged belief.Separation Of Church Law.

Because it isn't.
Saturnalia didn't even take place on December 25th. When you hear people saying that Christmas came from a pagan festival, they aren't talking about Saturnalia, they're talking about the day dedicated to Sol Invictus in the 4th century. The problem, of course, is that Christians were celebrating Christmas on December 25th before then.
Christmas was originally celebrated in early January. It was moved to December 25th based on ancient reconstructions of the birth date of Jesus.

Christmas was founded so that the "conversion" of pagan's would go so much smoother by saying, hey you can still celebrate on the same day, just in my way.
Jesus was borne in the spring time i believe. Christmas did not start to become celebrated till when??? When the Christian's of the past were murdering and raping and pillaging all in the name of your god and Savior

It's more accurate to say that Christianity appropriated pagan festivals for the purpose of celebrating Christ's birth and resurrection. We also appropriated drinking songs and turned them into hymns. So what? It doesn't change who we worship, or why.
Ever heard "My Country 'Tis of Thee"? Pretty sure anyone from the UK would have a different association for that melody. Doesn't change the fact that Americans sing it about our own country. Does that make me a so-called American denying that American patriotism is nothing but a continuation of British patriotism?

Some of them actually don't know, and some of the ones who do know refuse to acknowledge it, or downplay it by saying things like "so we could more smoothly convert the pagans," as if the pagans actually wanted it. Christians don't want to admit that they were imposing, greedy people who refused to learn about and accept the cultures around them. So they took Pagan holy days as their own to force conversion.

I'm a believer, and I do not deny this.
I now celebrate the feasts of the BIBLE (imagine that!) like Passover, Sukkot, Hanukkah, etc.
BTW....Easter is pagan too.
If we are to seek in spirit and in TRUTH....we should turn from Xmas.
Great point, good question!!

I think the answer would be that some of them do not know or they choose to ignore it or, perhaps, they simply do not care.
My next thought would be that not every family does the exact same thing on Christmas, so maybe they just consider it family tradition.

actually it is a shortening of it. Yule is 12 days.
Christmas is only 1 day! 2 if you count Christmas Eve!
