I'm going to a dinner party which will have a Thanksgiving-ish meal served and I've been asked to bring a bottle of white wine. I don't know anything about wine; I usually just drink what is served to me. I want to buy something which will go well with dinner, but I also want something I'll like--nothing too dry. I'll probably be going to a grocery store or liquor store to buy it, and I don't want to spend too much money but I don't want anything low-end either. Any suggestions on types of wine or brands?

Get a Riesling. Most people should be happy with it.

Well I’m not too familiar with white wines but if they ask you to bring wine and don’t really specify what kind I suggest "Peju Provence" it’s made in the Napa Valley. It is a rare mix of white and red wine varietals, it's something like a lighter more floral pinot noir, dry yet fruit-forward, with notes of cherries, strawberries and even cranberries.
I would recommend taking two bottles
(Its $22 a bottle)

I personally like a MARTINI & ROSSI ASTI it is a sparkling wine not dry at all more on the sweet side around 10-12 bucks depending on where you shop or a BERINGER WHITE ZINFANDEL again not to dry but not as sweet as the other one good luck and good eating n drinking HAPPY HOLIDAY

Most people like, or can tolerate, White Zinfandel Wine. And, it will compliment either red or white meats (including fish)!

A Riesling or a white Zinfandel is nice. I understand a white Pinot is nice but I've never tried it.

It helps if you know what type of food you'll be eating - but you should be fine with a local Riesling, works for dinner in cold weather seasons and should be in your price range since its local, yet decent quality.

if you don't know much about wines, your best bet is to go to a nice wine shop and tell them exactly what you told us. be sure to mention a price range you're comfortable with and ask for their expertise.
good luck.

My personal favorite is Henry Estates Veraison, but my sister-in-law told me about a white Merlot that she likes, I just cannot recall the name. Beringer???

I'm with Browney, man.....a riesling matches perfectly with a "Thanksgivingish" meal. Once you try it, you'll freaking love it!
