I go to a Catholic church every Sunday, but I am trying to find out what the difference would be if I were to go to a Luthren church instead. Do the churches look different on the inside? Are the sermons or homilies recited differently? Is there Communion in a Luthren church? Do they do anything specific like the Catholics do, such as having peace with your neighbor, making the sign of the cross with the holy water, singing hymns, stuff like that. Please help!

They have a Communion service in the Lutheran church, but not the Eucharist. They have no valid priesthood (and they don't call their ministers priests either). Theologically, from their perspective, they believe that the communion bread is both bread and Jesus, I think it is called Consubstantiation. Yes, Lutherans sing. I don't remember any holy water.

Many of the trappings would be similar. You would not be able to take communion at a Lutheran church, they fence the table like most historic Protestant churches.

The main difference is that Protestants believe Christ died once for all for the sins of man, and that is applied at salvation. RCC teaches that your sins are in constant need of cleansing, so communion for them is literally the re-sacrificing of Christ.

Read the 95 Theses by Martin Luther to start to get an idea.

You may have to just go and find out for yourself. I've heard that they are very similar.
