Do i need a cd to download ubuntu?

I went to the official website and it says I can download the server right then

You can download the CD image, but you will need to burn it to CD so you can boot from it.

install this http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm program, then right click on the iso file you downloaded from the ubuntu site, choose burn iso, set speed to 12X, when its done burning leave the cd in and reboot your comp, if you also want you can try the windows installer with no need to burn a cd here http://wubi-installer.org/
