I have a 2008 Dodge that has the Lifetime Powertrain warranty and I would like to know what documentation I need to keep if I do the easy service items myself (ie air/oil filters and oil changes, tire rotations etc).

everything you have done to it including oil changes and regular service, this is only needed in case their is warranty work that needs to be done to it,then they cant say you didn't maintenance it well, but id keep track of everything i did, this way they cant dispute it ,and believe me they will try ,some dealers wont even want to do warranty work on it unless you bought it from them,so keep notes on all you do to it with dates and what was done, good luck with it.

whenever I buy a new or new used vehicle I buy a log type book and keep track of the dates and what was done and what was used, ie: make and # of oil filter, make and # of air filter etc. I also keep a copy of all receipts and put them in the book where the written record is.
I have used these logs to force the dealers to make good on the warranty, the dealer may try to get out of doing it, but the manufacture will honor your warranty if you have good records.

the main thing is the oil changes. as if you have a problem with your engine. they will ask for the oil change records and if you dont have them. they will void your warranty. everything else is pretty laied back. they just picky on the oic. I have my truck serviced at the dealership for tranny flush and rear and front diff oil changes so its doc there. but oil changes I do myself

as they say rather be safe than sorry. if you think its importaint then save it.
