as long as it was prescribed by your dr to use daily then you should be ok (daily dosages are usually lower than the as needed pills). if it was prescribed to only use as needed-then i would only use it if you're in severe pain
narcotics are hard on your body in general and you run the risk of becoming dependent on the medication.
make sure during the holidays that you avoid alcohol when taking this medication-it makes the side effects of the medication stronger.
good luck!!

You mean long term like through the New Year? that's not long term. Long term is like 6 months or more.
You could end up addicted, you could build a narcotic tolerance to where your body needs higher doses or more frequent doses to get the same relief. Try to only use it if you absolutely need it and not for the sake of taking it.

Most people don't understand the value of drugs. I was on Vicodin and others for over 14 years. I have had surgery eight times on my back due to osteo-arthritis in the severe degenerated stages. I have eight cadaver bones in my back, along with four of my own and, two cages to hold my lower spine together. It's all coming apart now and they say they can't do anymore. I also have 32 wires holding me together.
After 14 years of drugs, for pain, to poop, to eat, for my stomach, it goes on and on. I run into a neurologist, he said what took you so long to get here.
He implanted a Midtronic spinal stimulator with controls for my lower body, from the waist down. It's a wonder. I have cut out all but my heart pills, check with your doctor and see what he says about this new and wonderful implant. It's made by Midtronic and come out of Minneapolis. It's used for people like us, for seizures, for epilepsy and certain blindness, it's being used for palsy, Parkinson's etc.
I found out that drugs were not the long tern treatment for pain and am now against them. They re O.K. for short term us, but the doctors seem to forget you and just keep writ ting out the scripts. I saw one doctor for a year and he never once questioned me about the drugs, just kept them coming.
I changed doctors and got the problem fixed.

If it's helping your quality of life, take it forever if you have to. There's no reason for anyone to live in chronic pain. There are no bad long term effects, as long as you don't keep needing more and more. :)

this medication is used to treat pain, not neurological diseases. It can be addictive. It contains tylenol so if you take too much you can hurt your liver. Can cause constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, do not drink alcohol or drive while taking this medication.
