What is the best bolt-action rifle in a 30-06 or 300 Win. Mag for less than $500. I would like experienced people to answer. Please provide groupings, ammo, caliber- and what gun used in your answer.

A Savage in .30-06 is around $450 new and they are excellent rifles for the money. You can probably find one used for about $350. Note that this does not include a scope.
Savage rifles are very accurate right out of the box, and feature a sophisticated trigger design called AccuTrigger that has received very good reviews.

Although I agree with the poster who says a Howa is a good choice for a rifle I disagree based on your $500 top. As I have said before I think the best bang for the buck accuracy and price wise is the Savage 110. Plus you could have money left over for some optics.
My second choice would be the Remington 700 but you are pushing the envelope there.

The Savage 111 FXPX3 Package comes in both calibers and includes a 3-9x40 scope for $534.00 list.
The Howa M-1500 Lightning Package has a 3-9x42 scope for $527.20 list. That's as close as you can get for the caliber you're looking for. If you already have a scope, these rifles are under $500.

Buy a good used Remington, Savage, Winchester or Ruger.* A new gun does not shoot any better than a good used Rifle.* Buy used and save lots of $$$$.*

Look up HOWA. It's a Japanese made rifle. Pretty nice, I've heard good things about them. A lot of product and quality for the money.
