If two or more come together and form a relationship...does it really 'give birth' a new entity?
Is it a living entity? Is it aware of itself as such? Will it struggle to stay alive if threatened?
If a man and woman have a child, that child can be seen as a symbol of that relationship.
Does that mean the relationship itself can be seen as if it were a child? Is this why people
stress the importance of nurturing a relationship?

Are relationships themselves literally alive or is this just speaking spiritually?

Both. They are alive, just as the cells in your body are alive, and depend on each other in a communal way. Furthermore, at a spiritual level, beings are drawn to each other at deeper levels than meets the eye.

Did the physical universe come first or did thought? Each person must personally decide.

I would take the position that the relationship is as real as the physical child and the physical world.

"To be is to be related." -J. Krishnamurti

A relationship that is "threatened" seems illusory to me. It is not that the relationship is in jeopardy, but that its nature is forced to change. "Threat" implies attachment, a string by which fear may be invoked and used to steer the relationship.

If a man and a woman have a child, then where once there were two, there are now three. All three have relationships with each other; the child is a being, not a symbol. If there is no child, then the relationship between the two is different. It is made of the interaction of two. With a child, it is made of the interaction of three. It is enlarged but also unique to the three. The nurturing of a relationship is simply paying attention to the other or others. I wouldn't call it a separate entity, but one may understand it thus, because in a way, part of one's soul is intertwined with the other person or persons. It is an artifact of the dichotomy of physical separation with spiritual togetherness.

If this state is changed, all will feel it, and it is virtually impossible to react without some level of attachment. If one nurtures out of fear (attachment), then the character of the relationship will be different than if one nurtures out of love (attentiveness).

You have touched on what is still a subtle and little known thing, a mystery to this thing called Consciousness; consciousness as we think to be something an individual, a sentient being, that is, possesses only. But this is not the case.

When one thing takes on life or two or more living things gather, there proceeds through it Life Force or Divine Spirit and thus are vectors established from which a common or grounding point comes into being by which thought forms, feelings and all that is sentient sets, which is a true, living viable thing and does indeed manifest a Collective Consciousness, and which can be communicated-with by those who can, by a peculiar ability, peer into and confer with this Entity, and can learn the finer knowledge that that given Collective Consciousness wields, as well as many other things, and to which outer words and means of communication have no access.

When one is speaking spiritually, one already covers all worlds, which is the umbrella under which all else follows and proceeds, acts, and manifests, and for which all things are not only possible but quite frequently probable.

Any given society has this "entity," any given nation or planet or galaxy or universe as well. Everything has some form of animate consciousness.

So you see, if you behold any of the cartoons as they were once produced during the 1930's and 40's and 50's, you will see that somehow the artists of those times somehow knew intuitively that such exists, and they portrayed these as some fancy of imagination. "Reality" indeed "is stranger than fiction."

Bear in mind always: imagination is the language of Soul Itself.

Yes there is an higher reality to relationships. There is an exchange in energy when intimate, a connection through the energy process. The male (active force) gives and the female (reflective force) receives of this energy, the female can nurture the relationship by rearing up this energy in herself and reflecting it back at its source, which is in the husband, thereby raising the vibration of it to a higher frequency which can help in the development of both man and woman involved. The child of this relationship would be in the interaction in the etheric with this energy, as their minds or the energy associated (which can not be separated from the thoughts) with it would become "one flesh" or a "child" of sorts. This is why some, like myself, would not want just a partner but a spiritual seeker as myself, so our union can produce an evolving offspring towards our development. The females greatest power is this nurturing, its what makes her an Goddess and the savior of man.

When we have intimate relationships, in regards to male and female relationships you will always be connected to them. The woman will always receive her prior mates energy and thoughts, while the male will have his energy drawn from him. It is subtle and people just don't it.

These questions come from the place of knowing, but you know this already.
You know I am seen by some to be on the dark side somewhat because I live where some eyes can not see, as you do. How would you like me to answer your question brother? In true unity there is no good and bad but but some may be put off to an answer in that way. To answer in the common way people will stay asleep. You know how I would like to answer I'm sure but there is much psychic energy about right now. There is a good reason why coyotes like the night. I will come back then. : ) The entity about during the day I call the world dream, it is asleep because of hope and looking into the future and things for happiness, it is very heavy. All relationships are alive and a child comes from the union. I will only speak of female/male relationship because this is the root of love and so is the beginning of all other relationships. Unlike what I was taught by religions with only a male God, and is a gross preversion of truth. The female has the power of love {Kundalini} and it will grow to sacred heights with a male that is open to her and and her love. Left hand Tantra is as far as I know the most pure and also very fast way to make this blissful child, and this child is also the parent, this child is the Goddess, this child is Kundalini or serpent power that jolts, rises, flows, cosmic, orgasmic energy flowering through eternity. A very welcome child. {smile} And very natural also. This child is born of love and is blissful in love, it will not fight to stay alive, but once seen who would want to destroy it. There is no fear in this child unlike the world dream this child is natural not man made but woman made, although man must assist in the raising process. A golden circle of energy from the female to the male, reflected back to the female it rises in intensity up through the body untying knots of fear, hatred, and anger, it reveals the world dream for what it is, a nightmare really. If this child is taken care of all other relationships will be blissful also. When the male leaves the home to go do the things that need to be done he will carry this light of the Goddess with him. Right Sunman? : )

The sad truth is that what once was is less common. Even children are no longer nurtured in favor of the almighy 'god' of money. If there's a buck in it, relationships will be bought and sold to the highest bidder as cheaply as possible. It has always been so. Families have been sold out.

A new entity? Maybe as in anything that is created. It does need to be fed, nurtured, loved, or it will starve to death. It needs fulfillment from both, not just the one. If only one feeds it, it becomes deformed, ugly and something that should be put down.

There are some relationships that are not relationships at all. But, when 2 or more join in one purpose & one mind, although they do not lose their sense of self, they become greater than the sum of their parts. If a drop of water joins with the sea, it does not cease to be a drop, yet it also becomes the ocean. Blessings.

For me, they are alive. The new energy created in the merging into one, be it friends, or lovers, is a new energy....call it entity if you will. In all my contacts with any individual, casual or deep and warm, I am aware that in that moment, and for as long as we are consciously one, a breath of new life has been born. I know this because I "see" and feel it......my intuition on soul level is aware. My personal ability to have heightened clairsentience, in this life-time, means that my sapient vision and perception is extraordinarily clear. The one that is created in the relationship is sacred.....spacious...... and has light flooding over it and through it, and it is light communicating with light. In each interaction, with each soul I come into contact with, the light envelopes the two (or more) in love and light. Not everyone will feel, see, or know, it at the time, yet it is there.......with each and every soul....and living being.

When my lovely one, the male version of myself, and I met.....we both saw the light shining out of each other, and we saw all our worlds collide and become one. We knew we were here at last....for the last time....and remain one, made of two powerful and centred, brilliant, creative beings: the male and female of the same thing.....as one. Yes, we have birthed our oneness in our union.....it's life is on its own path....and it is love.

When two or more are gathered and know love, then love/God is in that relationship.
Here, I am not talking of romantic or emotional love.
I talk of love that is. To move beyond mind and feel into all that is, to be that, and if the other is feeling beyond mind and living all that is. Then and only then is the relationship of love, in love, having their being in the love that is.
This can move mountains, yes it is literally alive, a moving sea of energy.
If it happens once in your lifetime, you are most fortunate.
It cannot come about through trying. It cannot come about through wishing it so. If one thinks to experience, they will not.

It is the creation of the energy of the two or more gathered in love.

This energetic can expand and change what is binding one.
In this space/place each can glean of the other, knowledge, knowing, understanding.
