There are some sites that say they receive money based on how many people click on their site, but I'm skeptical of these -- not that they aren't honest, but that they are really raising much money.

I have raised money for causes I support by creating a section on my web site that talks about the causes I support, and then links to the organizations I think are truly making a difference related to that cause. I wrote a testimonial about an animal shelter in Afghanistan that I felt was doing outstanding work, and linked to their donation page; later, I found out two people had clicked on it and made donations to the organization. They were VERY grateful. When I got married, I posted a link to Riders for Health on our wedding web site, and encouraged people to celebrate our wedding by donating to such, and several people did.

You could make a big difference regarding HIV/AIDS on your web site, by creating a section of your web site devoted to this "cause." It could link to:
-- web sites that talk about HIV/AIDS and counter the many myths out there about such, particularly those focused on young people
-- web sites to organizations that are working to address HIV/AIDS in some way, in your own community, in your state, regionally, nationally or internationally.

The UNAIDS web site is a good place to get started with your research.
