Stealing is prohibited, be it to the living and dead, eventhough the dead may no longer need any material things in this world. Use keyword steal for Koran search and one can find it. It wouldnt hinder the person that has died from reaching experiencing the afterlife, if anything material from his body is stolen though.

The following is with regards to the sub question:
In regard to the prohibition of violating and mutilating the dead, it has been narrated that a man was digging a grave and he stumbled on some bones, the Prophet of Allah (S.A.W.) said: Breaking the bones of the dead is like breaking the bones of the living. (Related by Ahmad, Abu Dawud & Ibn Majah). It is a general rule in Fiqh in which it is prohibited to violate, harm or mutilate the dead body whether it is a Muslim or non-Muslim cadaver, as an act of revenge, showing disrespect or doing so without any good reason. There are exceptions to this general rule especially in a case when there is a Necessity (Darurah).
For the main quetion regarding death in the Islamic Faith and the life after death, I suggest u to check out the following website:

Ma'am As a a Christian (married male); could I furnish yet another concept presently here? There are 'logically' a minimum of two different opportunities. keep in mind, a woman's womb facilitates a fetus develop for roughly 9 months.(To me; it rather is the 2d function of the womb). the 1st function (even if if she is 'virgin'). risk a million; If God made the physique; jointly as mankind could understand a million thank you to the womb; could desire to God understand a 2d direction? 2. jointly as a woman is having her era; and 'stuff'' travels from her 'womb' out of the physique, could desire to something else (notably smaller say a cellular length) use an analogous direction to commute exterior the physique to the womb? concept; the sunshine of the international created on day a million of creation became into Jesus (communicate over with John 8&9). for this reason, Jesus already existed previously his 'start' to Mary.

Here are few statements of God in Quran about death:
Every soul shall have a taste of death: and We test you by evil and by good by way of trial. to Us must ye return.
( سورة الأنبياء , Al-Anbiya, Chapter #21, Verse #35)
There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors.
( سورة الدخان , Ad-Dukhan, Chapter #44, Verse #8)
Say: "It is Allah Who gives you life, then gives you death; then He will gather you together for the Day of Judgment about which there is no doubt": But most men do not understand.
( سورة الجاثية , Al-Jathiya, Chapter #45, Verse #26)
To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: It is He Who gives Life and death; and He has Power over all things.
( سورة الحديد , Al-Hadid, Chapter #57, Verse #2)
He Who created death and Life, that He may try which of you is best in deed: and He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving;-
( سورة الملك , Al-Mulk, Chapter #67, Verse #2)
"We are your protectors in this life and in the Hereafter: therein shall ye have all that your souls shall desire; therein shall ye have all that ye ask for!-
( سورة فصلت , Fussilat, Chapter #41, Verse #31)
No misfortune can happen on earth or in your souls but is recorded in a decree before We bring it into existence: That is truly easy for Allah.
( سورة الحديد , Al-Hadid, Chapter #57, Verse #22)
Those who steal from graves will receive their punishment for their act of stealing. It doesn't affect the dead body. God resurrects all souls back to life with new bodies even if all bones are completey eaten up by earth because God has record of all humans that He creates on earth.
