Atheists aren't interested in convincing others to be atheists. It seems to me that they just deny the existence of God so they can do what whatever they want and not feel bad about it. Of course, i can't say that's the idea of every atheist, but for the most part, atheists are just lazy because they don't genuinely search for the truth.

Ideally, yes. But the process needs to be delicately handled and drawn out because of so many religious nutjobs that can do crazy things. It can't be an overnight process.

You also need to think, that atheists do good things out of their heart. You have many charitable organisations that have no religious affliation, and if the religious ones were to be banned, they would just operate under another name because the people want to do good. I volunteer for a charity that has a christian name, but as an atheist I don't care and really do believe in the work they do.

It's probably better anyway. You attract the people who want to do good, instead of people joining a christian charity to earn browny points to sit on their high horse and get into their "heaven".

The charitable organizations (Vinnies and Salvos) would continue to exist, they just wouldn't have a religious agenda.

Without an agenda that excludes people (as religion does) more people could be helped.

If I were founding a colony on another planet I would do my best to make sure that no religion became part of the government. They tried their best to do that with this country when the started it 231 years ago,but the religionist somehow managed to insert themselves into every facet of our lives. There has to be a way to prevent all of this being in the lives of people who don't want it. How does my unbelief harm others?

As an atheist I hope for a world where everybody is free to believe in what they choose without fear of prejudice and ridicule.

I can understand Atheists, tho I do believe in God. I'm not a Christian or belong to any church. With the wars being fought in the "name" of God and religion, that's a turn off right there. When huge churches with enormous steeples are built like phallic symbols on tops of hills to represent their higher power, turn off. When people have the gall to knock at your door, invading your space to try to convert you, turn off. When two people are in an accident and one lives, someone always says that God spared them because he has a special purpose. So, the one who died didn't mean sh*t? Hmmm. I had a minister and his wife as a client. They lived in an uppity gated community in a huge home.(I am definitely in the wrong business!) One of their congregation members was also a client. She was crying one day because she lost her job and didn't know how she was going to pay her church tithing, What? Animals don't know God from the mailman, but they aim to please and are capeable of love, devotion, and faithfulness. And they will be with us in the afterlife. Oh, yes they will! That's all our God wants, Duh... You people who believe God's a mighty scary force to reckon with and if you don't suck up to some clique in the name of God, you'll be punished by the almighty via lake of fire...rethink your reason for existence. Get off your high horse of a self made pedestal and join the human race. Stop judging!!!!! And give an Atheist, a Muslim, a Buddist, a Jew, etc..your heart.

So you have named TWO charities out of THOUSANDS of charities.
lol
What hope do we have?
We hope that one day self righteous idiots will just leave us alone to live our lives in peace.
As for the "Islamicists", they are doing what the Christian church did!
Do some history before trying to be clever!

i do not hope for a world without religion, i would never want to take away the rights of someone to believe. But i must say that christian charity organizations are notoriously corrupt and there are better non-religious charities to donate your time and money to.

true atheists will not answer this because they don't believe in God, so they won't be on here, other so called atheists are still looking for answers. However I think it all comes to the same thing, if we believe or not, we all want peace, we all want get on.
The truth will be know to all on day, that day being the day we die.

Our hope is that each day will be better than the day before. We would hope that charity would be provided out of the goodness of their hearts rather than the fear of God.
