Not necessarily all, obviously, but there seems to be a general feeling of frustration or unhappiness about Mexican immigrants in the United States.

I do not live in the States, so I'm genuinely curious - am I incorrect? If I am correct, why are Americans frustrated by Mexican immigration? Thank you!

I feel for you, Nick. It is a very unhappy person who goes out of their way to make others feel stupid, especially if that person is trying to learn.

Thank you to the others who corrected me on my mistake, I didn't realize it was a matter of going through the 'legal channels' that was the big problem.

Unlike a hundred or two hundred years ago when our forefathers came here:

Immigrants from Mexico just want to BE in America, NOT BE AMERICANS. There's a huge difference.

My great-grandfather came, learned English and became a Citizens as soon as they'd let him. He loved his new home and he worked hard to give back.

Immigrants of today come for what they can get from the USA. They are not concerned with what they have to offer the USA.

There are already plans in the works to end the wet foot dry foot policy when Castro dies. Bush has indicated it will normalize relations on immigration which will include more family type immigration and less wet foot dry foot type immigration, just like Mexico. It isn't Mexico that is treated unfairly. Even with this provision more are let in legally from Mexico than from any other country in the world. However, the Cuba situation is unique to them; Haiti doesn't get it either. It is born of cold war politics and is due to be rethought.

Reasons:

Reason #1: Ignorance: There are many myths that classify Mexicans incorrectly.

A: They don't pay taxes - incorrect. Last time I checked, Mexicans were charged the same tax rate at grocery stores and restaurants. I didn't notice a tax-free check out isle for Illigal people. Payroll taxes are taken out of everyone's paycheck outomatically. EVERYONE PAYS!

B: They take jobs from American people - incorrect. Fact: Illigal immigrants have, for many years, done jobs that American people will not do for three times the pay. I know I'm pissing people off with this, but I work for a staffing firm that supplies workers to over 60 manufacturing companies. I have had American people telling me that they rather live on foodstamps than work at some of those jobs.

C: They should have come here legally: Fact: There is NO current program that allows people to come here legally unless they are wealthy enough to prove that they are not coming here to work. The reason for this, in my opinion, is that the American government finds it more convinient to have those people here illigally so that they can do the jobs for a cheaper wage, thus, keeping huge companies profitable.

D: Mexicans bring with them gangs and violance: Fact: People of all races and colors are capable of doing bad things. And yes, Mexicans are no exception. They should be dealt with accordingly, taking the racial issue aside.

Reason #2: Paranoia=Political Strategy

I woke up on Sept. 12, 2001, and found out that there are 12 million illigal people in the country. I thought to myself "holly shiet, that's a lot of illigal people crossing the border in one night". My point: It didn't get that way overnight. Our government has been looking the other way FOR YEARS, but then on 9/11, John Smith shiet his pants and is suddendly affraid of his own shadow. Politicians (specially the Republican party) have used this fear in their favor. Illigal immigrants have become the new tool that they can use to get people to vote for them.

Reason #3 - YES, Racism...

Keep in mind that just a few decades ago, most of this country wanted to murder all black people because they were black. They believed that black people should remain enslaved. Yes, I know it pisses people off, but I can promise you that if this little illigal Mexican children were little white, blond, blue eye kids, they story would be sooo different. We would actually show our human side...

its not truly the fact that they are mexican, its because, as everyone else says, they are illegal. Its unfair that when we generally try to live by the rules we have people doging the law and runing across our border illegally its just not fair. They profit off of us, they use fake social security numbers and it ruins other peoples credits. Just the same way people dislike drug dealers, its not because they are a certain race, its because they profit and strive being illegal. What makes it fair that they can make a lot of money selling durgs, while others go to school try hard at everything and dont make as much? Also as a girl, i would walk to school and no offense at all to mexicans but you KNOW its true girls, the mexican workers would seriously stop there trucks to look at me. and overall the most i have tried to put it at the back of my mind, generally they are dirty, unkempt, and mean. For all the mexicans who are not, im sorry you have to read this but where i grew up it was all i would see. Also america is very hypocritical. Hope you can get thruough that!!

It's not about Mexican anything. We have no clue who's coming into our country. Our leaders are allowing our laws to be ignored to an unbelievable extreme. The illegal immigrants are zapping the resources out of government and our hospitals. American tax payers dollars are not going to Americans.

The reason you hear so much about Mexicans is because they make up the largest percent of illegals because their country, which is a complete mess and can't employ their own people, is on our border, so it's easy to cross. It's geography, not Mexicans.

If you're from a Western country, I bet your leaders have allowed the same type of thing to happen in your country.

Not exactly true. First of all, its only illegal aliens that are frowned upon. Most people accept legal immigrants from any country. The reason that you see so much about Mexicans, is that of the illegal alien population, the majority are from Mexico, or have come across the Mexican border.

There are a handful that are nasty to Mexicans, but that is the exception, not the norm.

I LOVE brown skinned Mexican chicas. But they should be here legally. Just as Mexico requires of their immigrants - nothing more, nothing less.

And like the bitter Mando I too came from S Texas - he is confused.

My favorite neighbor is a Mexican immigrant. A LEGAL Mexican immigrant.
He is a wonderful, friendly, productive businessman. (He thinks Americans are internationally disrespected for their insane inability to enforce their own laws.)
Why can't you Left wing Socialist/Marxist types ever get facts straight?
It must be easier for you to take a short-cut to HATE than it is to understand difficult concepts like Legal verses Illegal.
Disapproving of ILLEGAL activities does NOT equate to HATE of immigrants!

If I was living in Mexico, even legally, and I wanted to protest something the Mexican government was doing, they wouldn't need to have a law against my doing something as disrespectful to my host country as bringing an American flag to the protest and waving it around like an idiot.

The idea would never come up in my mind.

They live here, but all of their loyalty still lies with Mexico, and they need to leave.
