Dan Brown got it WRONG!

The Council of Nicaea had nothing to do with the Bible.
The books of the Bible and the determining factors of what books were selected to go into the Bible were done at the Council of Carthage and the Synod of Hippo.

There were several councils and synods. However I like what a friend on here posted a while back "Ultimately, it was God who decided what books belonged in the Biblical canon. A book of Scripture belonged in the canon from the moment God inspired its writing. It was simply a matter of God convincing His human followers which books should be included in the Bible."

THE COUNCIL OF NICEA HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH SCRIPTURE....THE SUBJECT OF SCRIPTURE NEVER CAME UP. I WILL WRITE A $1,000.00 CHECK TO YOUR FAVORITE CHARITY TO ANYONE WHO CAN SHOW ME WHERE, IN THE CANONS OF NICEA I WHERE THE SUBJECT OF "BOOKS IN THE BIBLE" EVER CAME UP FOR DISCUSSION!!

Now that that is clear...in AD 367: The earliest extant list of the books of the NT, in exactly the number and order in which we presently have them, is written by Athanasius, Bishop of Alexandria, in his Easter letter of 367. [Note: this is well after the Constantine's Edict of Toleration in 313 A.D.]

The Council of Nicaea

edit: wow, that a lot of thumbs down for those of us who answered a question that was short, to the point, and not even opinionated.
