The South produces far more members of the military than the North. They have the know-how and guts to win. The South, hands down.

This can be a very tricky subject. Slavery was a doomed system. It was not going to last forever and it was dying by the 1860s. I don't know how long it would have taken for slavery to die out by itself. All the civil war did for the Slavery issue was hasten its end. I actually think the civil war was the wrong way to end slavery. In the United States at the time, even in the south, there wasn't that much racism toward blacks, that only began after the civil war. It has to do with the fact that they were FORCED to free their slaves, instead of doing it out of the goodness of their hearts, or the suffering of their pocket book. Things that happen overnight often have terrible consequences and strong backlash. This forced abolishion caused strong resentment in the south, and it wasn't really against the blacks but against the government, freed blacks were just the convenient scapegoat. So it depends on how fast you want slavery to end, with a slow whimper and no backlash, or with a big bang and great violence.

With the incredible number of parallels to the Civil War in today's political climate this question is not far off the mark. However, this time the war would not be divided north and south it would be divided along far more political lines.

There are groups in the U.S. today that hope for just such an occurrence. They mistakenly believe that by such a divisive conflict they could move forth their agenda. While I believe the battles would be intense I do not believe they would last as long as the original war.

honestly i have to say i think the south might win. the south produces a very large number of soldiers as well as the fact that most of them are armed. also many many military bases are in the south as are naval yards, gun, bomb, tank etc factories. during the last civil war the south was agricultural and the north industrial, so eventually the south ran out of bullets and artillery. the south also produces a large percentage of the food. the only thing that the south might have a problem with is population, some small northern states have much larger populations than most large northern states. i dont know thats a tough one, lets just hope it never happens again.

I dont think it would happen. The civil war was over state rights- basically over slavery. We don't have slavery now so there really wouldn't be an issue between the north and the south. Not to say we couldn't have a civil war today- but it could be between any section of the US.

it would depend greatly where you place the border for North and South also Washington DC was extremly close to the south in the civil war so with the capitol on your side your side would have a larger advantage although it would probably get evacuated very soon. Also if we did have another civil was it would be a great time for other countries like russia or china to invade while we are killing each other and easily pick a side and tilt the war in its favor then stab it in the back.

Neither. While the North dominated in the first one, there were really no winners - just a half million dead Americans and damage to the Nation that lasted even into the present.
Furthermore there is no unity in the North, South, or West. Because of that, there wouldn't be geographical boundaries. It would be a complete meltdown with neighborhood against neighborhood all across the land. There'd be no winners.

The north.

The North would win, because the North has Washington D.C. and the North, therefore, has the United States Army, while the South merely has its respective national guards. thats pretty much why the North won the American Civil War anyways.

This also all depends on the conditions of the war. If it is a secession, who ever seceded would lose, as the army would squash them. This is not just northern civilians vs southern civilians. This is Northern Civilians vs Southern Civilians vs US Army.
