At your age the kind of gifts you give a boyfriend should be things like aftershave, gift certificate for a sporting store where he can purchase something he likes, or a nice shift. Do not spend over $30 and put a singing card on top.

Try to pick up on conversations.
Think back if he's mentioned a store he likes, his favorite candy, anything of that sort.
It's usually something small mentioned in passing, or not even said (I went to the mall with my boyfriend and he bought multiple cherry cordials from a chocolate store, so I got him that. He also showed up one day to get me with about 3 boxes of Nerds, said they were his favorite candy so I got him those. Another time I went to the mall with him and one of his friends. While we were waiting for his friend, we found these really nice blankets and couldn't stop touching them. I went back and got him one).
Any movies he particularly likes but hasn't seen?
Is he into reading? Or maybe a specific topic?
Make him a card to go along with it.

Give him something personal, that only you can give. Anybody with $400 can go buy an X-Box, but if your talent is singing, drawing, sculpting, or whatever, go that route. Of course, have a "Plan B" if you think he won't like it.

observe his bevhavior and what he really likes to do
then make a list of the stuff you saw him do and choose something from that list
if that makes sense?

find a way to take him somewhere. a play, concert, something. I can't speak for most guys, but I know I prefer to "do something" rather than "get something".
