it is expensive when you are a tourist... you need to bargain with them sometimes.
The Old City's Jewish Quarter in Jerusalem is good for souvenirs.
The markets in Tel Aviv are the coolest though: The Carmel Market, The Nahalat Binyamin Pedestrian Mall (only Tuesday and Friday!) and Levinsky Market are the best.

Ive been there last summer.
umm their money is called shakel
about 4shakels equal a dollar
so id bring like 200 dollars
anddd you can negotiate just about anywhere
check the arabic places;
there rlly reasonable

what is a souvenir in your mind?
personally there are some palces where souvenir are expensive put its not an epidemic.
should you visit jerusalem then i suggest you hire a guide.

my advise.... dont shop in a souvenirs shops....
be smart go to the marketplace.
in jerusalem there is ben-yehuda market , nice place with really fair prices and even the best tea and food u cen get....enjoy
