It has been, in the entire history of NASCAR to honor the top ten, and they are sticking with it.
The reason there are twelve in the chase is because it gives two additional drivers the chance to make the top ten after the chase starts. NASCAR thought that having a chase for the top ten would be as exciting for the fans as the chase for the championship.

I can agree with that point. If you are going to have the top 12 why not honor the top 12. If they just want to honor the top 10 then they should just go back to having the top 10 in the chase. That is just a dumb as them guaranteeing a spot in the race for the top 35 five in points. That is not qualifying. Can only hope they do something to remedy these issues.

Yeah I wondered the same thing
Martin Truex had a great season and I wanted to see what he had to say about it. Now we have to hear it thru. the Media and its only gonna be 1/4 true.

they wanted to widen the playing field for the stupid "chase" and it didn't work out for them. I for one am satisfied that truex and hamlin will not be on the stage as that honor belongs to the top 10.

I agree, why have top 12, when only the top 10 go on stage..I hate the chase, I think they should dump the chase.

I think the chase sucks anyway. They should go back to the old method of Cup Championship.

It is obvious NASCAR wanted Dale Jr. to make the chase. But he didn't, so NASCAR's plan failed.
