Jesus likened it to sleep when talking about Lazarus.
Psalms 146:4 and Eccles.9:5, 10 shows death to be without any feelings, thoughts, neither pain nor pleasure.
So according to the Bible, there is no pain in death, just sleep awaiting a resurrection. (Acts 24:15)

Death is nothing. No pain, no pleasure, nothing. But the dying process might well be unpleasant.

I think it's the other way around. Some deaths are very hard. I hope to go in my sleep.

Nobody knows.... I'd think not though. Your body might hurt, but your brain would be dead so..
