Evolution is the process of change that occurs over millions of years of imperceptible changes causing upward growth from simpler to more advanced life forms. According to the theory of evolution, natural selection is the guide by which beneficial mutations are propagated and lead a life form up the evolutionary ladder of change.

In an interesting side note, theory of natural selection was actually theorized by William Edward Blyth, a Christian Creationist, well before Darwin. Blyth wrote articles on natural selection as early as 1835 from which Darwin ‘borrowed’ his ideas.

I can make this simple. I'm Christian, so i guess i am one of many You are asking. DARWIN's exact idea? No, i suppose i don't know a lot about it; i think i know more about his trial. I would not mind reading the definition from YOUR perspective, but here is mine. The species we have on Earth now were not always the same, and will not always stay the same. Evolution is on-going, and part of it is extinction. Another part of it is diversity. Scientists are still working on exactly how it all got started, but everyone agrees it had a starting point. Some think the beginning was a sudden eruption of all physical matter for no reason at all, known as the Big Bang. Not very logical, but there are hints of evidence that are being studied. Others refuse to believe in this random act because it is written that all things were formed by a higher being generally thought of as God, and that's what's written, but it is interpreted to mean that all things were created at the start exactly as they are now, and there is no logical reason to believe that, either. If You take the verb "WERE formed" and change it into "are being formed," the two ideas can be accepted as the same. I already admitted that i don't know. Furthermore, i assert that no one knows for certain. However, this is why i see no conflict between the scriptures and evolution. I just see people who want to argue. (Is anyone else having trouble with spellcheck?)

well i'm not a creationist, but i'll give it a shot.

through a series of mutations and adaptions, species evolved into new species. This process continued, along with things such as the area where they lived and groups of that species being separated, eventually creating a diverse mix. useful things were kept, useless things would eventually be lost in the DNA.

edit- i don't get why asainpower would bet his religion. Evolution doesn't nullify Christianity, i don't know why people think it does. (unless he's just trying to be the heavy better)

Evolution, or Darwinism, is a theory that basically says that throughout time a species was tweaked by nature to adapt and overcome the obstacles of the area where they are either going to thrive, or are currently thriving to better suit the needs to live.

There are many Christians who think once Adam and Eve left the garden of Eden, humanity had to start over with evolution - a way to show humanity what a great gift they passed up by wasting a lot of time with it.
