For the past 3 years I have been like a father figure to this girl, her name is Vanessa, she's 13. Her biologoical dad does not spend any time with her heck he barely even acknowledges her. For the past 3 years I have spent time with her, I have came to her school events, I have taken her trick/treating, I have been there for her when she was having a bad day, I was the one she would come to for advice (school, clothes, puberty) I have always tried to boost her self-esteem. Heck she even calls me "daddy", would you say I am like a dad to her? Have I helped raise her?

When she was in grade 6 I would walk her to school, and walk her home from school. I would also take her swimming on weekends (at the pool we would have splash wars, she would ask me to give her piggy backs around the shallow end of the pool and she would ask me to pick her up and throw her in the water. She would also ask me to help her with homework.

So whats your question here? If the shoe fits and you feelthe way you do then youre dad as far as all is concerned and I wont challenge you on that part. Very admirable stepping upto the plate when her real dad vanished on her. Keep it up and Happy Holidays

Yes, anyone can be a sperm donor, it takes a real man to be a father.
You've helped her in all ways possible and she appreciates you for everything you've done for her and will appreciate you for it for the rest of her life. You took the place of a man who was willing to make her but not willing to raise or support her. You're doing an excellent job and yes you're like a dad to her.

Yes you are doing good to show her and help her be happy. You do not say what your relation is though? Make sure your attentions stay looking good and that you do not look like the pervert next door since you do not say how you come to be doing this. As long as you are doing good the girl will always look up to you and admire you as her hero.

It sounds as if you may be in endanger of being seen as a pedophile--a predator! How old are you? If you are over 18, strart finding a young woman with which to spend that much time; marry and then have your own bona fide children. You don't have to pretend....with someone else's child.

I wish I had a Dad like you when I was a kid. My dad or Step dad are as great as you are to Vanessa, You are her Dad and she knows it.
