It's for a college apartment.
Last year the theme was communism.
Right now we have a pickle ornament so it would be nice if it were involved in some way. THANKS, use your imagination.

Maybe add to the pickles, hamburgers and French fries, and cold drink cups from various fast food restaurants, used up catchup and mustard bottles, and go with a fast food theme.

I personally don't like themed trees, but why don't you do a fruit and vegetable theme this year, and you can eat the tree ornaments through out the month.
And don't forget the candy canes and popcorn and maybe some beer and soda cans
