It would have to be my mother's sugar cookie recipe - her mother even started making this over her own recipe!

3 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 cup butter (softened)
3 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Sift first 4 ingredients together or whisk together in a medium size bowl. Add unbeaten eggs and vanilla. Mix well using a fork. Refrigerate about an hour. Roll out very thin (about 1/8") on well floured board and cut out with floured cookie cutters. Bake 8 minutes in 375 F preheated oven.
Frost with your choice of icings or add sprinkles before baking. Makes about 6 dozen depending on cutter size.

Hope you enjoy! I am now the baker in my family and probably make these about 4 times a year for all to enjoy.
