Your muscles need ATLEAST 48 hours of rest before working out that muscle again. How much rest you really need depends on how intense the workout was. It could take 3-6 days if the workout is intense enough. I personaly work each muscle once a week. If your not eating enough you will not recover as well. Doing more exercise will not get rid of the soreness......

That is a normal part of working out. The microtears repair themselves and that is what gives you bigger muscles. You should allow 24 hours rest for each muscle group which is why I used to alternate upper and lower body every other day. Also, stretching before and/or after your workouts can help ease some of the soreness.

take the next day off from strength training, if you've worked all areas. Do cardio, have fun with a sport, spend some time doing stretching then go back to strength training the day after. You have to give the micro tears time to repair.

I use to feel the same way until i stretched both before and after the workout and the pro-pain went away. So i say don't skip on the stretching.
