But if we have faith and KNOW that our needs will be met....wouldn't there need only be prayers of thankfullness and praise??

No, we are called to pray...how could that be a lack of faith...talking to the Lord is a relationship...it goes both ways.

Luke 21:36
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

2 Thessalonians 1:11
Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

I know what you're saying... I get that feeling a bit, too. Sometimes we are afraid God will not bless us enough, so we ask for more, and we keep on begging...

Unfortunately, repetition doesn't make God hear us more. See Matt. 6:7 - http://scriptures.lds.org/en/matt/6/7#7

Only faith makes it possible for God to answer our prayers.
See James 1:4-7 - http://scriptures.lds.org/en/james/1/4-7#4

I do think there is a place for asking for specific needs, because prayer is a kind of work... and it does bring results.

But if we ever reach the point where we feel pain and fear while asking, then we know that our desire for that thing has become too great. Buddhists can teach us a lot about the value of removing "attachment".

If a prayer of supplication reaches the point of pleading or begging, then our faith has flown away and we need to relax and recoup.

We should let go and trust God to fulfill his own promise, in due time. If our desires are righteous, and we ask for help, it will happen. But God knows when the time is right and we're ready to receive the blessings.

EDIT: I think you've made a good point. I should be giving much more gratitude than I currently am. That gratitude and praise is what fills us with joy, completeness and even more faith. :-)

No, many of the Psalms are prayers of supplication and Jesus prayed to God in this way many times.
In fact it could be demonstrating a strong faith: asking God to do something and then EXPECTING it to happen.

I consider it faith to pray for what is needed, if it's something that you can do yourself. We should always thank and praise God. For God's will should always come first no matter the cost.

Faith takes many roads. It's an act of faith. Just a longer road than the one you are talking about! :)

No, it doesn't. The Bible says that "The effectual FERVENT prayer of a righteous man availeth much". God expects us to pray fervently and unceasingly. He is not at all turned off by it!

You have supplemented your question with a very good statement. When we know God (to me Krishn), we only thank Him. There is nothing else needed to be desired. Everything comes automatically. And it takes infinite ages to express thankfulness and gratefulness thereafter. There is no time left to think of anything else, because there actually is nothing else!

Allah will forgive any form of on condition that no count number if or not they're important or not different than of arising (shark) making a god with him. Worship him on my own! although, you're able to do your ideal to desire on time it rather is the ideal for you. If praying works nicely capacity you're good and each little thing else will artwork so good. in case you chop back to rubble with praying capacity you chop back to rubble with each and every thing else. save it on time as you may. in case you're ill you may pray even on your mattress in case you may not stand, you may pray homestead in case you may not circulate to Masjid. attempt your ideal, do not pray homestead asserting which you would be able to not circulate because of the fact of ill after which you opt for for grocery! you're coping with God who knows of each and every thing on your heart! could Allah bless you and all and sundry around the earth with loving Islam to our heart! thank you!

no because when we pray, we are asking him to give us the things that ONLY He can provide....and knows what is best for us.
