The sooner you start training any animal the better. Police dogs, for instance start their training as soon as they are able to open their eyes.
Cats and Kittens can be trained too. They just take a long time. I had a friend who taught his cat to fetch. He would throw a stuffed toy or a ball, and the cat would bring it back. Someone else I knew trained their cat to potty in the toilet and flush after. It takes a lot of Patience, a lot of positive enforcement, and can be done. You can try looking at your local library for books, or go to a pet store to ask for their advice.

You can't teach them tricks, you can just play with them, liek with the ball, and you can teach them not to scratch your furniture. Whenever they go scratch something or do something naughty, gram them gently from the neck, liek their mum, say NO, and give them the correct alternative (a scratching post or rug, or another toy). Praise them whenever they do the right thing (scratching the scratching post). Also get them used to trimming their nails. Ask the vet to show you how, you must not cut too deep, there are veins there, just 1mm of the pointy edge.

7 weeks! That's very young. I think a few months would be better.
