You should neuter him. He will calm down a bit, he will listen better and he won't start marking his territory in the house...you don't want him to pee every minute in every corner of your home! As for breeding him.....breeding is a huge responsibility and cost a lot of money, you want to leave that to real breeders with experience.

I'd definitely think about having him neutered. Truly the world doesn't need more dogs - and I think even professional breeders should only breed when they are contributing something great to the blood line. Its really fun to see the puppies but if your dog sires a littler of say 5 that's 5 other dogs that don't find a home.

Neutering will help to calm him and also get rid of the frustration. It would be hard to have all that testosterone and not be able to act on it! So in a way castration is a kind option for house dogs.

Your dog will still have the same personality, just be better behaved and you'll be a great dog owner :)

Neutering alone will not stop your dog from humping. You have to stop him from doing that. Let him know that you don't like it - teach him manners, in other words.

If you can make sure your dog doesn't accidentally breed an intact female, and you train a reliable (really) recall, then it doesn't honestly matter whether or not you neuter him. If you let him roam around the neighborhood or, if you assess it honestly, you are not responsible enough to make sure he doesn't breed until you make the informed decision to, then by all means, neuter him.

Alot of people put off neutering their pets because they want to breed - someday. Then after a few years of misery, they have the dog neutered. Unneutered dogs can be a problem, they hump things, they are anxious, they have excess energy. It's best to leave the breeding to a professional breeder and enjoy your dog as a pet, not a breeding stud. You will have a much nicer companion if he is neutered.

I have actually a girl pom, and i spayed her. I highly recommend it. One, because there is such an over population of dogs, 2 since they are such a small breed, if they go to the wrong home, esp a home with kids they are liable to break their arms... i'm sure you can see just how small they are. My poor pup broke her arm and it was not pretty :(... Poms are very delicate, and actually the females that go through the labor can have major difficulties and even sometimes have to get C - sections. And about the hyper part... he'll probably always be hyper! mine still is and she's one. but after she was fixed it calmed her down a lot, she stopped doing things she wasn't supposed to do.. such as chew on shoes.. and the carpet.. and the furniture.. and everything else to destroy our home :-)... But yes, for the safety of your dog, the female who he would have the pups with, and the pups themselves.. certainly get him nurtured.

Neuter him! Breeding a dog is a BIG responsibility...and is very expensive if done properly!

Beleive me, both you and he will be perfectly happy without dealing with breeding!

Definitly yes...neuter him. He won't make messes in the house, and he won't be as "happy"
