Such as what question? I have seen some on here that I pass over because it is obvious nonsense. Some that are genuine (even though controversial) I try to answer, even if I don't like the question. Sometimes so many people use this site just to bash others (on both sides) and those getting bashed (on both sides) occasionally get tired of it and perceive a bashing even if it is not meant to be. Then there are those of course that ARE just genuine *******, sorry about those. If you can't get the answer you seek here then I suggest you see a minister or priest. Trust me they are used to dealing with controversy and I don't know of any who would turn away a GENUINE search for knowledge, no matter the question. And you'd be surprised at the things that have been asked!

I'm guessing because religion is something that is generally taught to people when they are young, and as such it practically becomes part of them.
So in other words, it is the same thing as questioning who they are. People tend to get defensive when this happens.
Then the another view is people who have become disillusioned with religion and don't buy into the specific tenets of a given religion. As such, these people tend to think of the believers as being foolish. This generally leads to them loosing respect for that person and ridiculing them. Some people get over this and some stay selfish emotional cripples.
Then you have the third sort of person who just likes causing drama to see the reaction they can get out of people.
Thankfully I can say I've grown out of the second type.

I don't know. I tried to answer your other question as respectfully as I could.
I have a thought, though. You can take it or leave it.
Some of us are so used to people asking questions that are attacks, so we are on the defensive at times. It is hard to tell if someone is being genuine or not.
I think it is best to assume the question is always genuine.
I am so sorry if people have been unkind.
We are not ALL "*******" and there is not a picture of a Christian in any dictionary under the "a hole" entry.
Most of us are nice people, contrary to what some people say.

Because the bible is the foundation of the Christian faith, and to poke holes into the bible is to poke holes in their faith. And no-one wants to have doubts in their mind of things they believe in vehemently and have done so for maybe many years, perhaps their whole lives. Therefore they will be angry and annoyed if you ask such a question.

When people ask *controversial* biblical questions, those questions almost invariably emanate from people who, themselves, are taking a position that in some manner mitigates against people practicing their own personal liberties. Which is an obnoxious stance to take, and agenda to have.
In such instances, those questioners are getting the criticisms that they deserve.

Religion to many people is deeply personal and can be a huge part of what makes them the person they are. What is going on in Iraq is a good example. Religious zealots all over the world believe their religion should be the "only religion" and that those people who don't believe as they do are "not worthy," are "sinners," etc. Those who are secure in what they choose to believe and understand there is a place for all to believe what they choose and exchange ideas and philosophies in a peaceful, meaningful environment are the ones whose opinions have merit.

You know, I really don't have an answer.
I answer all the questions I find as directly from the bible as I can.
Yet, that also upsets people to the point where I rarely get a best answer, just because I point out scriptures, NOT my opinion.
So , I guess....the truth, makes them feel guilty? Ashamed?
Foolish?
Honestly, I really don't know why? BUT! KEEP ASKING!!!

Because there is so few on here that ask genuine bible questions that they can't believe it is genuine. But I suggest you go ahead and ask anyway.
