Actually, Hell isn't about pain. It was originally created as a place for the fallen Angels. It's just a place removed from God's presence. In the Bible, Hell is rarely referred to and Jesus once likened it to a rather awful garbage dump. St. Augustine described it as being out of the presence of God. It wasn't until Dante that we got the imagery of Hell. Even then, the states that the various sinners are in are less of a punishment and more a reflection of the psychological state. For example, in the first circle of Hell we meet the Lustful. They are the ones who allowed their desires to rule them. They are swept up in a gigantic whirlwind and are obscured by mist. The wind represents how they allowed their desires to rule them and fog is the lust that obscured their sense of reason.
So, Hell is really just being out of the presense of God, Love, and Reason. Everything else is just gravy.

Then choice is not simply "choose Me" but also choose eternal glory, no pain, no suffering, eternal paradise, or eternal damnation. Being a mother of 7 and gramma of 1 I am sure you have offered your own children a choice of doing as they have been told and to behave or.....(insert punishment of your choice here). It is the same with our Heavenly Father. He's offering us His version of "ice cream, or liver". Personally, I choose to behave. (I hate liver).
And you can call me "Poppa of 11 and Gee-pa of 17(with 2 more on the way!)"

Be glad you have a choice. If Jesus didnt die and shed His blood and rose again for our sins, we would have had ONLY ONE option. That is eternity in the Lake of Fire.

There would have been no choices to choose. The Lake of Fire would be our ONLY option.

Further...God doesnt want anyone to go to Hell.

If He did...

We would ALL be there RIGHT NOW.
He would not have warned us of it in the Bible.
He would not have sent Jesus to pay the price for our sins.

But God gives us two choices:

Choose life or Choose death.

Why would you not want to choose Christ instead of suffering for your own sins?

A better question might be; Why does God even give us a choice? Why doesn't He just punish us for our sins?
