I need cheap ideas to spend holidays :(?

Question

I don't really make that much to get by, barely 60k a year and I need some CHEAP ideas on how to pass the Holidays in California!

- camping
- volunteering
- going on a diet lol
- learning new recipes
- going to the airport on STANDBY???

Any ideas would help.. I'm really trying to be responsible with my $ so I can pay my bills.. YET still have a great vacation. I have 1.5 weeks off and no plans yet :( :(

If you are ready to think way outside the box!!!

I go down to my local private airport and hang out with the guys at the restaurant or just in the shack. There are people that fly all over in their private planes. Just hitchhike a lift to where ever they are going. Its amazing how many people would like someone to go along and keep them company. many times people are just skylarking and getting hours for licensing purposes and want some one to talk to on during their hours in the air. A good way to get somewhere for free or just ride around. Of course you have to be pretty adventurous to do this and having a good personality helps.
