And what exactly does this do to your free will?
If a tall and loud white guy with a flowing white beard rode down from the heavens on a fluffy cloud, turned your swimming pool into Dom Pérignon and then asked you to follow him, would any decision to do so be based on faith, love, and loyalty?
What makes you entitled to tangible evidence? The simple fact that you were created, and that he asks for faith?
Kudo's to any Atheist who will answer this question without simply stating God doesn't exist. I'm not interested in your opinion of his reality, I'm asking hypothetically:
If there WAS a God, why would you be entitled to proof?

Without disrespect to the poster, I'd like to comment on this:
"So god is Caucasian now?
If he demands I worship him I demand proof of his divinity first"
Of course God is not caucasian, its understood that he was not born from a Human mother, so the idea of "national origin" or "lineage" was used simply in Caricature for the purpose of entertainment and a light and uncondemning tone.
You still didn't answer my question tho. Why are you entitled to proof?
It is understood that you believe you are entitled. I am asking WHY?

"Oh here we go again. "Almighty god", who certainly "proved" his existence in The Big Story Book by "creating", drowning, burning, wrestling, speaking, parting, villifying, and all the rest of it......has no obligation to "prove" himself now. I think I'm going to throw up."
Instead of throwing up, why don't you answer the original question. Why?
Folks, I already know that you feel entitled to the proof, I am asking you why.
It's a simple question, that has yet to be directly answered

Mr. Danger, I appreciate your respectful tone, others were not able to be as civilized. I do however disagree.
You must consider that you are talking about person to person communication. It is understood through life experience that mankind lies when it suits it's purpose and doesn't have adequate control of their impulses. This is also indirectly why a person is happy to demonstrate earthly abilities to other people, because they stand to benefit. I'd like to make sure a person painting my car is qualified and experienced, it's only fair, but make no mistake, the shop is who stands to benefit by displaying their credentials and securing my business.
God, however, has nothing to gain from a faith in Him if it's no longer faith but common accepted knowledge. It renders our actual purpose and our free will useless. If he wanted mindless followers, he would have created them instead.

"Proof doesn't require faith ,it requires evidence."
I would say that truth does not require evidence. Gravity has been around a lot longer than when Newton decided to label it. The falling apple has and would still fall even if we were unable to explain why through human limitation. Humans use and labeling of "evidence", "proof", and\or "truth" is directly limited by our ability to understand and interpret "facts" and make sense of it all. It's why science is ever changing.
People thought they had evidence and "proof" when they believed the world to be flat as well.
God does not require faith, He merely requests it and leaves the decision up to you. He gets along just fine with or without you

We're not entitled to proof. God doesn't live for us; we live for him.

Proof doesn't require faith ,it requires evidence .
Think about it .Only in the religious world do reasonably intelligent and sane people accept proof without evidence .
You want to marry a person who claims that are divorced , most people will ask to see the divorce decree first
You're buying a used car , you look at it to see if the numbers match, if the wear and tear on the vehicle matches the claimed mileage and you ask for the title
You're playing poker with your friends , you think somebody is bluffing ,so you call him on it and make him lay his cards down ,Granted you will pay for the privilege but you will see his cards -and the list goes on.
The bigger question of course is why your god would not want to show himself ? In real human experience honest people that can honestly do all that they claim that the can do , are proud of their work and are more than happy to show it off.
Common sense and life experience should tell you that honest people have no problem walking out and about in daylight and dishonest people walk around at night and hide in the shadows.
So to answer your question ,Yes I am entitled to proof without I have no choice but to believe that it's a lie

If a tall and loud white guy with a flowing white beard rode down from the heavens on a fluffy cloud, turned my swimming pool into Dom Pérignon and asked me to follow him, I'd check myself into the nearest looney bin and tell the docs I'm suffering from delusions.
Hypothetically, if there WAS a God, and he created me for the express purpose of worshipping him, then I would hope he'd provide me with proof of his existence and not just expect me to worship him because a book tells me he exists.
From what I understand, most true believers have experienced his "power" or "Holy spirit" personally. I have never experienced anything of that sort, so IF there is a God, it does not want me to worship it.
The actions attributed to the Biblical God are those of a spoiled child or a sick individual who cares only that people worship him and anyone who strays is tossed into a lake of fire. It seems petty...which I would hope a god would be above.
The threat of eternal damnation negates "free will."

Hello.
I think that 'God' is an contradiction onto itself, much like when you visit the local supermarket for a tin of beans, you purchase a tin, and when you open the tin, there is no beans inside.
'God' has provided no evidence for myself.I have been wholly reliant on philosophy, reason, thought and logic. We are born without sin, with free minds and the will to do any action (good of bad, mature or immature).
For if 'it' so loved us in the world then assuredly 'God' would have given us proper proof. Faith and reason walk hand in hand. But I would fill empty 'worshipping'-its immature.

If I may deign to awnser a question with a question;
If there WAS a god, would he be entitled to belief if he did not provide proof? How could he possibly expect to create a universe that bears all the hallmarks of pitiless indiference and an abscence of an intelligence at work and NOT expect that at least some of his creations might be a teensy-weensy bit skeptical.

If there was a god. First he would have to show himself so I would actually KNOW he does. Seeing is believing as they say. Second he would have to PROVE his benevolence. No being is worthy of being worshiped simply because of who they are. That's like saying George W Bush deserves your respect, adoration and complete obedience simply because he is the President of the United States. You shall know them by their works. If he does things for humanities benefit, on an intellectual, humanitarian level, and promotes civil liberties much to the opposition of his own book. Then yes I might consider pledging allegiance to said entity.

If your god gave you free will, he would not punish you for making a mistake. THAT is free will, not going to hell for becoming an Atheist or some other religion. Free will to do good things, and be allowed into your heaven regardless of religion. Though, it does not matter to me, my goddess loves all even if you do not worship her. So yes, for someone who condemns those who do not kiss his feet, I do require proof that he is real.

He doesn't. People say that the worlds richest man exist and it is not Gates. I think he is a Sultan and he rented out several floors at a hotel in my state. I never seen him, never seen a picture of him, and it is impossible for me to ever know that he exist. People will tell me so, but what proof do they have.

Even if He did come down that way, it would still not convince people that He is real. The devil has blinded many and even Jesus said that there would be those that would not accept Him. I am so glad that I took heed to the calling of the Holy Spirit and will live with Him forever.

Which god?
I'm entitled to proof because it's a ridiculous story that requires me to think that other human beings are committing horrible acts by loving another human-who *gasp* just happens to be the same sex as they! I am entitled because your faith asks that I believe in a god who completely changed from a maniacal tyrant into some peace loving hippie...who still thinks same sex love is an abomination. It's ridiculous for any rational human being.

So if God does not owe us any proof of his existance, then the Christians are wrong about the Bible being "breathed by God" - since that would prove the existance of God.
