Someone made this claim....I wonder if it is true.

Note it is Feb 17, 2009 in the USA (See the info site at link 1).

Canada won't be switching until 2011 and other countries will differ as well (Link 2).

Some have already switched (e.g. Luxembourg in 2006) and some will switch in a phased manner (e.g. the UK it will vary over several years (2008 -2012) depending the part of the country (Link 3))

Right now the mandate time is in Feb. 2009, not Jan. 2008,
in case you did not know the original time was for 2006, but HDTV was not ready then and the possibility exists that it could be changed again but not likely.

I thought it was supposed to be in Nov. However, it doesn't matter to me anyway, because I decided quite some time back if anything happened to my t.v. I would NOT buy another and will not buy their new crud just to watch a bunch of junk. Most of it is insipid, shallow and lacking in taste and I can live without a t.v. Let them hang themselves, I say.
