Good question: This is important!
As you wrote, in Proverbs God says that the fear of God is the beginning of knowledge/wisdom. Then in Revelation God sends angels with a world wide message to say in a LOUD voice, "Fear God and give glory to Him for the hour of His judgement is come."(Rev. 14:6,7). So we see that God repeats Himself and then has the message to, "Fear Him" to be sent throughout the world and in a loud voice. This must be very important.
So, does fearing God mean to shake and run from Him? As you said, of course not. God counsels us to cast all of our care upon Him because He cares for us (1 Pet. 5:7).
God tells us, through His servant, known as the wise man Solomon (Solomon had everything and was even given the most wisdom any man in this world, past and present, could ever have (2 Chron. 1:12)), that to fear God means to keep His commandments (Ecc. 12:13). This is what God wants us to never forget. . . His commandments (Exo. 20). Why? Because, "... God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether [it be] good, or whether [it be] evil. " (Ecc 12:14)
So, how do I know if I fear God, . . . ask Him (Jer. 17:9,10) and He will show us our lives in comparison to His way (Exo. 20:1-17).
God bless.

Here is how God developed a fear of Him in me...
First I desired to seek God. I worshipped Him. I prayed to him. I asked to know Him more. I started thinking of just how Big the universe really is, and how many stars there are and how huge the oceans are and how big the sun is.
Then after realizing just how small I was and how the bible says we are really insignificant outside of Christ. I realized that I was nothing but worthless trash deserving to be thrown into the trash and burned.
Then, knowing how vast and eternal God really is, I studied His wrath. I researched Hell. Here are some things I did...
1) Read Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God by Jonathan Edwards
2) Read starting in Matthew and mark every place Jesus talks about Hell or punishment.
3) Listen to people like Paul Wiese who have had visions of Hell and refer back to the scriptures they reference.
Understanding the punishment for sin made me realize how horrible sin is, and that God is so Good that he can not allow any inperfections near Him at all.
This took several months. It was a season of learning the Fear of God. But it all came together at one point when the Lord showed me the eternal significance of Jesus dieing on the cross, and that Jesus took that wrath of Hell in my place.
Christ became my treasure through the fear of God. I pray that more people would embrace the fear of God and tremble, so they can mature in the love and Grace of Christ.

It's a matter based on faith and trust. If you respect God...and you believe that he is almighty and all loving...that he can do anything...if you love him. I'm not really sure how to describe it. You know that somewhere inside of you that he is totally powerful and in control.. You fear him in love. It's not really fear as in that's a scary movie it's more of in love. Does this make sense? You respect him and trust him and depend on him to help you. You aren't prideful. you don't think to yourself I'm way better then him. That's fear of God.

To truly fear God is to love, honor, respect Him for who He
is. Also to remember the price He paid for you and I. We
should have had, to pay the price for our sins. The best way to
fear God (honor) is to keep His commandments. To be plea-
sing to Him and not worry so much of what people think. Most
people think of God as a tyrant, or a thug. But God is love, and He does want the best for His own.

I'd like to comment on this question. Did you know that the 'Holy Roman Empire' basically spread Christianity through fear after they were tired of trying to adapt the religion to suit the Pagans? Its called 'witch trials'. People were so scared that they converted.

Fear to go against Truth for God is truth.
To search for truth in our everyday life's is to search for God.
To deeply respect the truth in our every day life's and in others, not just the bible, in your actual life..

i understand that that's being pointed at Christians yet, "Mormons" are meant to worry God besides. by worry it customarily capacity comprehend. i think in the asserting; to worry God is to love God. If I keep in mind the reference proper The Proverbs a million:7 says something like; the terror of the Lord is the beginning up of information. it may take an exceptionally long term to describe that verse to furnish it meaning, yet after interpreting it and questioning approximately it for awhile, it makes terrific sense to me. i think that in case you are worried God, then meaning you're preserving His Commandments given which you do not opt for to disappoint Him. And by doing so which you're loving Him, seeing how John 14:15 (scripture mastery) says; If ye love me, save my commandments. So surely, in case you first worry God, then you start up up preserving His Commandments, in case you save His Commandments, then you are loving Him. It is clever to me yet i will see how which may well be debatable.
