it varies from practice to practice, so fone your local vet and ask them.
for me to get my dogs chipped with a bio thermo chip it cost £32 however if they go missing and get found, when they scan them the chip tells them the dogs temprature too so they dont have to go through the discomfort of having a thermometer up the bum. they will do they same thing for cats at around th same price i am sure, the normal chip is only about £25

Check you Humane Society. At the one I work for, it is between $12-20 depending on where you live. It can be more expensive at the vet. Both my cats have tags on with their address and phone number, but if they get out, their collars could fall of, so they are also microchipped.

Usually $35-45 per animal, then you pay the $17-20 when you send in the "registration".
Sometimes there are clinics help by Humane Societies that offer is for $20 or so.
Call your vet for an estimate. Some charge an office visit also.

Don't know about cats but for dogs it is £15 I guess it will be the same for cats as it is the same chip and the same procedure. All responsible pet owners should get there pets chipped

We used to just call them names and learned to recognise them. now if your cat gets lost you lose a £15 micro chip as well. its a good earner for the vets.
