It keeps the gas bill lower. Ever heard of a "Three Dog Night"? Well for me it is four. With a temperature of 101 degrees they will keep you warm. I don't turn on my heater at night. And I guess on top of that I love my dogs. I am an older widowed guy and my dogs are my family.

My dog jumps up in the bed. We push her down when my husband is here because there is not enough room for all three of us. But when my husband is out of town with work, sure I let the dog sleep in the bed. We don't cuddle up or anything, but she sleeps in the bed. I keep her clean. She doesn't disturb me and she enjoys being close to me. In the morning, she wakes me up by licking my face and rubbing her face on my face. Some people who don't have dogs think that is gross, but I think it is sweet and funny. I let her out in the yard and then have a shower, so I don't mind. Dogs like to feel like they are a part of the pack and pack animals sleep together. When my husband is home, the dog sleeps on a pad next to the bed.

i don't let mine in the bed for several reasons. One is, well, there are too many of them, there are 10 dogs now, 6 are pups that would pee on my bed.
Two, my cats sleep in the bed, and wouldn't tolerate the dogs there.
Three, they would literally wrestle all night, on my bed(i have tried to let them sleep there).
So, they all sleep in their crates. Some people believe dogs on the bed makes the dog dominant, i don't think so. If you get on the bed first, and invite the dogs up, and they willingly and without growling leave when you tell them too, it's fine for them to be there.

I don't generally sleep with my dogs. Or, rather, my dogs generally choose not to sleep with us. My first dog doesn't seem to be convinced that she is allowed to since we had a bed barely big enough for me and my husband when we got her and she didn't fit. My second dog used to sleep with us, but he's big enough now that I think he gets crowded at night. He'll sleep with us for a bit, but then I guess we're too squirmy for him because he always gets up and goes to his own bed before the night is through. If one of us is working or traveling and he only has to share the bed with one human however he often does snuggle all night.

I like to let the dogs sleep in the bed with me, especially in winter, because they are very warm.

Why not? If you keep your dog healthy and clean there isn't any real reason not to have them in the bed with you. I sometimes allow my dog to sleep in the bed and at other times don't allow it. She does as I ask her to. When I lived in Vermont the dogs slept in our bed all the time!! They were wonderful heaters in -40 weather!! haha I take comfort from having those I love near and my dogs are no different. And no, I never thought of my husband as a dog at all - that is somewhat of a childish comment on face.

I sleep with one of my dogs. I used to sleep with two others but one is too old to jump on the bed and she hurt her leg jumping off when I tried to put her up so she sleeps beside me on her own bed and the one I sleep with thinks I belong to him and wont let the other one anywhere near me, he is about a fourth the size of the other dog but has a real attitude problem and even the big dogs are scared of him. He does allow 2 of my cats to sleep on the bed. He's very cuddly and likes to burrow under the covers and keeps my feet warm.

We didn't used to sleep with our dog, but after a while they kind of make the decision to sleep at the foot of the bed, and their owners have very little say in it. ;)

I do sleep with mine, but that's because I treat my dog like a child. So my dog sleeps between me and my husband. :-)

Yes, one of my dogs sleeps in the bed with us. If I did not let him he would pace the hallway all night until he could get in, so I make it easier on myself. Good thing for King Size Beds!
