I heard that around christmas when you have a car payment or another bill of that sort you can ask the company to cut it in half or you can make a later payment.....................there's a certain name for it but I can't remember it. Anyone know??

Generally no. There are many credit union loan organizations that offer certain perks including skip a payment in December if you take out a new loan.

For example: December Skip-A-Payment Promotion
Need some extra cash this holiday season? Apply for our December Skip-A-Payment promotion. That's right, skip your December loan payment(s). Click here to print an application and return it to our office. If you have questions, contact our loan department at 361-855-4494. Certain conditions and fees apply. See application for details.

But the all have that little rider...conditions and fees apply.

They are generally called seasonal loans.

Sure you can ask. But most of the time, they won't do it.

Sometimes, if you have a good history of paying on time, a credit card or loan company will let you move that payment to the end of the loan period, so it "feels" like you didn't make that payment. But it really adds massive finance charges to your account, and makes them a lot more money.

Most of those type of loans and the offers are done thru credit unions. They will let you skip a payment during the holidays, But they still charge interest and the payment is added on the back end of your contract.

Some companies will do it, some won't. Normally the minimum they accept is the part of the month's payment that is calculated interest, and the unpaid principal amount is added to the loan amount. It is a stop-gap measure, and is certainly no gift.
