make sure you use proper technique, if you do it wrong before you stop growing you can damage the epidermis( i think thats what its called) in your lower back which regulates your growth. So yeah i would be careful and makesure you get instructed properly - oh and dont lift too heavy weights if possible.

20lb-30lb barbells are very light. But there is no scienctific evidence that you need to wait till after purberty to start, though i would probably tell you to wait until you where about 14-16. If you do make sure you are properly supervised and you know the correct form for the lifts you where attempting. Good luck hope it goes well

resistance training can be started at age 13 or higher. how much weight is used on a specific exercise depends on your form. in terms of resistance training injury occurs as the result of using improper form not from lifting heavy loads.
