Lasagna really is a full meal. The only things I would recommend on the side would be the following:

Caprese salad (tomatoes, basil, mozzarella cheese with a balsamic vinaigrette)
Regular or Caesar salad
Vegetables like asparagus or green beans with julienned red peppers

You could also ask your friend to bring a nice hearty loaf of Italian bread (from the bakery or the grocer's bakery).

How about some steamed broccoli? That would go GREAT with lasagna. Just for something different, take some orange or purple cauliflower. Some waffle cut squash would be good, too.

Fried mushrooms or asparagus steamed or drizzled with some olive oil and roasted in the oven
