i think the fact that she yelled "hot foot! hot foot! hot foot!" makes it really funny. the image of someone hopping around (in her slip, of all things) yelling that is pretty humorous. if she had merely burned herself it would not have been funny at all. i probably would have laughed at myself after the fact if it had happened to me.

My wife and I both think it was not wrong for you to laugh; she said she thinks she would laugh if it happened to her.
The way your gf responded is what makes it so funny to me. I started laughing the second I read "hot foot, hot foot, hot foot." Heck, the only reason I clicked on the question was to figure out what the heck a hot foot was LOL.
I do agree with the answerer who said that the action of dropping a hot curling iron on your foot is not funny. This was about a lot more than dropping a hot curling iron a foot- this had a hilarious response thrown in.
The answerer who stated that she could have been seriously injured or caught something on fire is not considering the situation I think- obviously this wasn't the case in your situation.
My wife and I disagreed a bit on if it would be okay even if you hadn't asked to see if your gf was alright. I thought it would be okay even if you didn't ask simply because it seemed obvious that she WAS okay.
If she was unable to talk, was screaming in pain, was crying, was losing bodily fluids, or anything similar... then there would be a question as to whether or not she was "okay." If she was sitting on the floor, sucking her toe, saying "hot foot," COME ON, she's okay!
Let me know how your bet turns out.

Last thing that made me cry.... this is such a pathetic story.... My dad had said that if I didn't do so well on my Bio. 1. final I would be grounded from the phone and computer all summer (which would really suck because thats the only way I ever get to talk to my bf because he hardly ever lets me see him) so my teacher e-mailed him my score after school got out, and my dad was acting all stern and serious earlier, and he asked me if i knew what I got on my final, so I said hopefully a B, and he gave me a "look" and said no. I started bawling my eyes out because my life as I knew it had just ended, and he started laughing at me and told me my real score, so it was all good and I felt so stupid. The last thing that made me laugh was realizing how much of an idiot I was for crying in the first place! Yay! long story..... not sure that was really worth typing out but oh well! : D

It's horrible, but I laugh when bad things happen. Sometimes it's because I actually find it funny, sometimes it's just a release of my emotions---a coping mechanism.
But seriously, humor = pain + time. And sometimes, you don't even need the "time," lol.
I would say that your laughing was fine ONLY if your girlfriend found it funny as well. In my opinion, I hate to be in pain and hear someone laughing at you....but after I'm feeling better, that story will get retold numerous times. But if your girlfriend was upset that you were laughing at her (which, honestly would be legit) you need to apologize.....explain that you shouldn't have laughed until AFTER it was all over.
By the way, I grabbed my mother's curling iron when I was 2 and I still have a three-inch scar on my hand. Those things are dangerous!

I would have probably laughed too. You check to see if she was ok, and you were not laughing (I don't think) at the fact that she was hurt, but rather laughing a her craziness of running around, hopping and sucking on her toe. That does make a goofy picture, and I"m sure if the position was reversed she would have laughed at you. After assuring you were ok.

LMAO!!! I to have done that...it hurts alot!!! But it is VERY funny. My bf did the same thing you did, I didn't get mad.
Would like to know what you bet. email me plz
One time I ran outta my Apt to my car, slipped on the grass an flew face first, skinning my hands on the sidewalk. Only wittiness was my best friend. She, unlike you, was laughing WAY to hard to see if I was ok. I myself was laughing my azs off and was muddy from head to toe. If your klutzy enjoy it, ya cant change it, but it's always good for a laugh =)

Well, I'd say okay to chuckle as it 1st happened, it's natural reaction to see something out of the ordinary and find it amusing.
Then she explains what happened, you check her out, she looks ok and is still saying hot foot - hot foot etc. still okay to laugh as long as you where sincere in the middle.

It's not wrong to laugh. I'd probably be laughing if it happened to me. Especially if the pain wasn't severe.
Kinda reminds me of the episode of "The Office" where Michael burnt his foot on his George Forman grill. If they made a comedy sitcom based on a similar situation, then it's probably appropriate to laugh. :)

i don't think it's wrong that you laugh, you clearly do care about her (it's obvious by the way you worded your question) she was probably laughing a bit too.. maybe?? If not yet, then i'm sure she will laugh later down the line :) I think if you really REALLY did think she was hurt then there's no way you would have laughed. I don't know, you sound nice tho.

Since she wasn't badly hurt I'd have to laugh...even if was me jumping around frantically! I've got a mental picture and I'm laughing right now. Sorry she got burned though! But yeah, still funny!
