I hope I don't offend anyone by asking this, but how many atheists have been driven to do wonderful things for the world?
Mother Teresa, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Pope John Paul II, Leonardo DaVinci, and many more have influenced the world, have sheltered the poor and the sick, have fought for liberty and against injustice. Though they worshipped different religions, they all did it in the name of their god.
Could you give me a few examples in either way? I'm not asking to offend, but to discover. I'm Christian, but no, I'm not a converting fanatic.
Please think through your answers, not just saying, "That's dumb."
Thank you and God Bless You.

Thank you to everyone who gave me examples. I'm sorry I offended you. By the way, no one's perfet, and religious people aren't any different. I think you mistook my meaning.
I don't consider vague answers very helpful. Thank you again.

Considering that atheists or heretics were burned at the stake or tortured for transgressions against the current beliefs, I would say that there is a bias against them in history surviving or remaining an atheist.

How about Albert Einstein or Stephen Hawking, not real sure if they were atheists or not.

I guess scientific discoveries and advancements in technology don't count as "wonderful things for the world"?

Geez.
