The first thing i start with is self-rising flour. About 2 cups. Then i add shorten or lard. i use a fork and cut the shorten into the flour until it looks like corn meal. Then i add the milk it can either be regular milk or butter milk. I mix all ingredients until all the flour is mixed. Then i spread about 1/2 cup flour on a cutting sheet then dump mixed dough and kneed until dough is not stickie but still soft. I form a round ball then press down with my hand util the dough is about 1/2 inch tick. Use bicuit cutter.Pour about 2tbs of oil to baking pan place cut dough onto pan. lightly grease tops. Bake at 450 degrees until desired color.

Depending exactly what kind of biscuits they were, either one or a combination of the following: standard yellow cheese (perhaps cheddar) butter, maybe some herbs or chives, for dinner biscuits.
For dessert or savory biscuits-honey, jams or marmalade, a light dusting of brown sugar, etc.
