Is there such a thing as a machine that, at a set time, will boil the water ready for coffee in the morning??

Yes - I used to use a teasmade for coffee as I can't stand tea. All it is is a time-activated kettle which boils water and pumps it into a receptacle - use a cafetiere with grounds if you're fussy, or a mug with instant if you just need the caffeine. the old teasmades used to have a kettle and pot and a weight activated tray that switched the kettle off when the pot was full. The next version was kettle only which switched off as soon as water was pumped out - this is the one you need.

There is a Mrs. Tea, which is made by the same company as Mr. Coffee. There is probably one with a timer. We have one, but it doesn't have the timer. Has a pretty little tea pot included. I suppose it could be put on a timer, if you can't find one with a timer built in.
