I'm in my 3rd year of a pharmacy degree and all the lecturers seem to go on about the likelyhood of us all going to prison if we ever make a mistake! Why should I want to do this? The money isn't really an incentive as I could earn almost as much as a pharmacy technician. Is it a rewarding job?
Obviously I'm asking the pharmacists out there.

Yes it is a good choice - especially as you're nearly there!
In any job you could go to prison for making mistakes. Pharmacy is no different. Pharmacy technicians earn nowhere near what pharmacists do.

It you want to be a pharmacist than you should. The point of telling you that you can go to prison if you make a mistake is to get you to understand what the job is like. They want you to be prepared, but they also want you to understand that you're dealing with lives and one mistake could have horrible consequences. I personally think pharmacy is a very rewarding job. You get the opportunity to interact with clients and you get to do what you love.

You're almost there, by all means finish up. But be prepared...pharmacists are often confused with physicians. Patients will inevitably ask what they should take for this or that ailment, probably to keep from going to their physician's office for an appointment.
Mistakes will be made...you will need to stay focused and organized. For some of your reasons (among others), I received a degree in Nursing instead of Pharmacy. I don't regret it, but feel you would.

Your lecturers don't know what they are talking about. The only time you can possibly go to jail would involve controlled substance. It is so rare to hear about a pharmacist losing his/her license. Look in your pharmacy practice act, and it should tell you what qualifies for discipline. If you break any part of the PPA it is just administrative law not criminal.
Techs, on average, make about one third of a pharmacist does.
