My puppy is a german shep/lab mix. that is 5 months old.
She has a crate that she LOVES to go in. I take her out to go to the bathroom every time i take her out of it, play with her, feed her, and right before we go to sleep. She will pee outside right when i take her out but she refuses to poop out there. We scrubbed our carpet so there is no smell of pee or poop but she literally will wait until she gets inside. We do not rub her nose in it, but when we catch her in the act, we stop her and take her to the proper area outside. She will hold it in during our walks then go in the house and do her business. We really dont know what to do about it. any suggestions would be very helpful! thank you!

Next time she poops in the house, scoop it up and leave it outside for a few hours on the spot where you would like her to do it. The scent of it should prompt her to visit the spot next time she comes back from walkies. Just keep her outside until she performs.

Leave her out there a little longer, and dump her poop outside to let her know that the outside is where she does her business, not in the house. When she poops outside, reward her with a treat! Worked for my puppy!

She's still on the young side.
I'd give her more time.

Continue just like you are, be patient and consistent.

TIP:
Get her to go on command.
Everytime you see her go to the bathroom, say a command. (I use "get busy"). Eventually the command will signal her to go. Then, only give the command outdoors.

This just might be a "quirk" your dog has. Put a puppy pad down, but ignore it. If she starts using it on her own, great, but keep trying to get her to go outside.
If it's something unique to your dog, she will welcome an indoor "potty", and use it exclusively. If it's inexperience, she will outgrow it with no problems.

If she starts using the pad, you can gradually move the entire pad outdoors. Hopefully she will "get it" in time.

A good nose full of dung with a nice swat on the butt with a rolled up newspaper should do wonders.

If you don't want to do that, get used to cleaning up a lot of poop!

Just walk her longer :-) She'll figure it out sooner or later.
