apparently some Christians give their children Christmas gifts with notes saying they are "from Jesus". Do any of you know this practice? If not, what are your opinions on this?

My mother used to put "From Santa" on all of ours. Besides, why would someone (Jesus) give presents to others, when it is supposedly his birthday?

Presents "from Jesus" make Jesus into an imaginary character that children will later find out didn't buy the gifts, so I'm skeptical of this practice.
Santa Claus is actually Saint Nicholas, a real person who used to give gifts and helped make popular the pictures of Baby Jesus. He actually worshiped Jesus himself. He's a role model for others who want to give gifts in the name of Christ.
But I've never known parents who gave their children presents "from Jesus," so I don't know how they explain it to them.

I've heard that before. It's not something I would choose to do in my family.

Christmas Eve is our spiritual day. We focus on Christ, we act out a nativity, we read from the New Testament.

Christmas Day is all about the goodies. Anything not from mom or dad or siblings is from Santa.

My kids are 5, 3 and 1.

Kids are NOT stupid! Actually they are more intelligent than most adults. If you dont' believe me...Ask one to read a bible
verse to you...they would give you the most logical answer than most adults would.
Anyway. Ray P, I would teach the children that giving is a sign of
true love, and the gifts represent thankfulness, love, giving,
and appreciation and Christ was concieved on Dec. 25th.

how should that bother you?personally i see nothing wrong with it..i expect the children are simply happy to recieve the gifts and if someone wants to incorporate Jesus in gift giving it shouldnt affect you

I've never heard of anything like that before. I don't think it's a good idea, no matter how well intentioned.

I don't believe that the practice is supported by Scripture. (I don't find any warrant for it in the Bible, but I don't see a specific prohibition either.)

We make sure that at Christmas time that our children know that the gifts that we give to each other are really gifts from God. God is part of our lives, and we make sure to thank Him in all things. .

Christmas has nothing to do with Christ It is so sad that a lot of people don't know or just don't care where it actually originated from.
