I wish i could answer your question Brandon, but there is no answer. Everyone has their own idea of what exists and what doesnt. You might look at a situation and wonder why some religious person acts a certain way when it makes no sense to you. Or why a religious person says something that totally defies logic. The thing is that people will adhere to their belief because it gives them a reason to live and a place to focus on. If the bible were never created another religion would be in control. Religion must exist because people need something to believe in.

because christianity became popular because people liked the idea of everyone being equal. before then if you were born poor, you stayed poor, even in the afterlife. I, unlike probably 98% of the other answers you'll get for this, completely understand and respect this question. Christianity is a convenience. people believe what they want to believe. they take things out of context and pick what they like and ignore what they don't like. But don't think that all the world is Christian, there are other religions out there that are very inspiring. You should try to learn about them all. I did, and I found Paganism and I'm quite happy. Also, be fair to Christianity as a whole. Christians today are completely different than what Christianity was created for. In the beginning, it seems like a very nice, religion.. but it's kind of like communism. It's great on paper, but people are too evil to make it work.

By definition, Christians MUST believe in Satan. It's in the book.
I believe in Christ, but my overall belief means that I'm not Christian. If I go to a Christian church, I would be sitting there as a hypocrite.
Check out "Science of the Mind" by Earnest Holmes. It's a really big book about what you wrote in your question, ""you can do whatever you put your mind to" I dont see why you need to ask questions to someone when there right in front of you........"

I believe in God and the devil. I use to be into satan worship and he is real, I saw him many times. I also saw Jesus and I would rather serve Him that the devil anyday. If you can do whatever you put you mind to, can you make a leg grow longer, or open deaf ears? I have seen this happen during prayer. I respect your opinion and gave you a star because I thought your question was interesting. Thank you.

I never heard of a Christian who believes in the existence of God, but not Satan. You can't have one without the other.
"Religion" being the main problem in the world, I disagree with. If, in your eyes, you view religion to be the same as God, that is not the problem, it is Satan that generates all the evil that is the problem.
You may or may not be able to do whatever you put your mind to, but the bottom line is, whether you believe it or not, a supreme being gave you that mind, so without His guidance and help, you won't be able to do much.
But, that's just my opinion as well. Good luck in your journey. Merry Christmas

You need to see the difference between people who are true Christians and self claimed Christians. There are many groups that claim to be Christians and they have been taking Bible messages to support their views, and some of them, like Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses have made their own Bible version so that they can better support their odd doctrines.
God is real, and so is devil. Heven is real, so is hell. Good news is that eventhough we have a lot of choices here on earth and only two choices what comes to our etenal destiny: hell and heaven, we get to choose.

See Pascal's Wager
Do not quote bible passages as evidence of god's existence. This is my standard of proof, not yours. However, if proof were proffered that convinced me god exists, I would change absolutely nothing in my life or my behavior. The existence or not of god does not matter. Like many humans I live a purposeful life and god does not add more purpose.
Christians sometimes proffer Pascal’s Wager (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pascal%27s_wager ) suggesting to non-believers that they should accept Jesus (John 3:16) as some sort of insurance policy against hell, just in case it turns out god really exists. The fallacy with this line of reasoning is that faith in god for some reward or to avoid punishment is not faith at all. It is a selfish act to receive something in return for a belief. The point of religious belief so that one becomes a better person, not to receive a reward or please a spiritual being.
I have no stake in god's existence. I do not see existence of heaven or hell as a reward and punishment system. If the whole purpose of the Golden Rule preached by Jesus was to treat others and I would like to be treated, I can follow his philosophy without believing in god. What type of god would want me to pledge my fealty to him or her simply for the sake of believing or proving my allegiance? I would expect god is beyond pride and the need for some following.
For all those thumbs down votes, I ask you to examine your personal motivation for believing in god.
Why is the concept that one can perform selfless mitzvahs and possess moral values without belief in god so difficult for many Christians to comprehend?

I don't think getting rid of one religion would solve the problems of the world. Christians who do not believe in the devil are not reading the book they claim as their own. That can be the only answer I can think of.

If you don't believe in anything but yourself, then in the end, that's all you'll be left with. If you acknowledge something greater beyond this false image of your self, then you'll move on toward something greater. Good luck getting past Level 1! Oh and PS: religion ain't the problem. Ignorant, stupid, selfish, power mad, greedy people is the problem. Try experiencing something first before you pass judgment.

well, i'm not offended by your opinion because everyone is entitled to their own...but i do believe in God because i knows he's worked in my life and answered many of my prayers....i also believe there is a devil because i can see the effects of evil and sin in the world everywhere. I live for Jesus because he died on the cross for me and anyone who accepts him so we can go to heaven and be with him. what do you think will happen to you after you die? How do you believe the world started? I would never be able to accept that we came from monkeys and the world happened from a spontaneous combustion.
